Need some recommendations for a good scope for shooting .308 FT/R class.
My max budget is $600.00
I currently have a 10x mildot SS scope.
Most of the shooting I will be doing is mid range stuff (300 to 600 yrds) as we have no 1000 yrd ranges in my area.

I would say find a used sightron Siii 8-32 with fine crosshairs or target dot. I have an one and really like it. Best glass(for the money) IMHO.

I have been looking at the Sightron scopes.
What I am seeing is it seems that the scopes with the 1/8 moa clicks are the more desirable, but not sure if the fine cross-hair or 1/8 moa target dot reticles are best for FT/R.

I will put in a recommendation for the Weaver T-36, with fine crosshair and target dot. I have one on my backup .308 F-TR bolt rifle and I used it for several years before it became my backup rifle. I have another one on my AR-15 based F-TR rifle and had that one even longer. What has always impressed me with the Weaver is the total repeatability of their adjustments. I shot that AR from 300 to 1000 yards, clicking back and forth and never had an issue. That micro-trac stuff really works well.

The scope is around $400 and can be had in silver or black. I have one of each. Solid stuff but it gets darkish in there at my age in an early morning shoot this time of year. The glass itself is quite good, but do not expect Monarch quality or NF and so on; this is a budget scope.

Sightron S3 would be first choice

There is a hidden gem in $500-range : Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 - phenomenal glass and tracking, but very limited travel, so make sure you have enough MOA in your rail.

I would stay away from Weaver T - the tracking is very good, but the glass is borderline miserable, anything but perfect conditions and might as well wrap it up.

Has anybody purchased a scope from Big Supply Shop?
Their price on the Sightron scope I am looking at is $130.00 less than SWFA !

You have to watch bigsupplyshop. They have some hidden charges you dont see until you order. I just ordered a 10-50 Sightron and after the charges was still over 900$, well over what was listed.

I've bought several Sightron's from BSS. You can figure out shipping is by adding the item to the cart, entering your zip code and it will give you an estimated shipping charge. On 5/14/13 bought a 8x32x56LRMOA $795.19 + $15.60 shipping = $811.39. 7/17/13 6x24x42 w/CC BIg SkyII $554.49 + $14.88 shipping = $569.37. 9/16/13 6.5x20x50 SII BIg Sky $548.89 + $16.47 insurance/handling + $13.75 shipping = $579.11 The last time ordered they added an extra charge for insurance/handling... However, you're still going to save $100+ on most orders.

I'd recommend a Weaver T-24. It is simple and extremely reliable. People tend to over-emphasize glass clarity and under-emphasize turret reliability and tracking. The Weaver T-series has a great track record and they are modestly priced. I like the T-24 vs the T-36 because the T-36 can become unusable in heavy mirage.
