Hart barrels ???

I'm thinking of having my Remington 700 bdl 7mm rem mag rebarreled with a hart barrel.
While on there website I noticed they can blueprint the action and install a new barrel for around $700 bucks.
Question is has anyone used this service before?

Rifles use is predominantly hunting, and target practice.

I have had a few Hart built rifles over the years and they all have been very good shooters. However I have not had anything done by them in years.
 
I dont use hart. Neither does anyone I know. I know nothing about them. I know I could get an action trued $100, new barrel, kreiger bartlein brux say $350, barrel install and chamber $250.
Depends on how stuck you are on hart...
 
I have been around one, several years ago when I used to work part-time as a range Nazi at Flatwoods in NC. Guy had a 700 in 300WM done by them. I was not able to take it out of the stock and play with it, but the little I was able to see had no glaring gunsmithing errors. I was really curious myself because I was looking into getting a .308 done by them. Chandler used to send all of their rifles to Hart for the barrel work. The rifle shot about MOA that day IIRC, but I'm guessing that had a lot more to do with the driver than the rifle. It was sitting unbedded in an HS stock, and those aren't exactly set up ergonomically to absorb a lot of recoil for the shooter.
 
I have a custom 308 with a Hart barrel that was built in 1994 and I can shoot sub MOA with it today. Great Barrel.
 
A guy in my club shoots a Hart barrel and won state in F class this year with it and set new long range state records with a hart barrel. Just saying

I have heard many great things about their barrels myelf. I have one on order for a 300 WSM elk rifle I am building.
 
Execellent barrels and excellant service. Had a .308 done by them several years ago and it shot extreemly well!
 
I had them re barrel a Sako years back an older .375 H&H, with a 24" barrel chambered in .300 H&H. Shot great. I later dropped the action into a Brown glass stock and it continued to shoot sub moa. Shot a lot of deer and elk with that old Sako.

Had them re barrel and go over an old M-70 I had. Ended up with a pre 64 profile, complete with rear sight hump...but a stainless chambered in .257 Roberts AI. That one has shot 5/8" to 3/4" for five at 100 yds since I bought it with Nosler partitons or BT's. Not bad considering it's a circa 1958 rifle still in it's original wood stock.

My new 6.5x47 Lapua is a Hart barrel...it shoot better than I can hold it.

NOTHING wrong with HART barrels or their work.

I consider the Hart Family as friends. I've know PJ, his wife Kay and son Jimmy since the 1980's. They are good people and as hard working and honest as they come. Buy with confidence.
PJ once helped me retrieve a 6x6 bull stuck in a deep, rocky gully. That is a FRIEND! LOL.

All original, kinda needs some TLC,
I only paid $150 bucks for it though.

Will Hart look over the rifle and possibly rebarrel and check the action?

I figure they can, just thought I'd ask.

I'm sure they would take a look at it. Unless it's beat to death, or a previous re barrel ,a .257 Roberts pre 64 is a desirable rifle to a collector.
Mine was a .30-06 originally a chambering that I had covered by a pair of .300 mags, and a pair of 7mm's. So I went light and had them do a 23" .257 Roberts Ackley Improved. Basically a .25-06 .Mine shoots really well. Great antelope and deer rig. Also shot a cow elk with it once too.

When I was looking through online estate auctions for a 22lr match rifle, I noticed that a lot of vintage rifles had been re-barreled with Hart barrels. At one point in time they looked to be quite popular.

I talked to them a month or so ago and there is a 9 month wait for truing and a rebarrel. If I end up keeping my AI AE then I will definatly have them do a barrel for me in .260 or 6.5 creed. They are somewhat local (1.5 hours) so I will have a hart barreled rifle some day.
