Is AIAX or AT using KeyMod, or is it different?

Anyone know if the AI rifles with the key slots are in fact KeyMod or are they slightly different? (Can't seem to find confirmation one way or the other).

    TIA

I have a question ? , are the slots on the AX rifles the sameway around as the slots on the AX MC ( PSR stocks ) rifles ?

    Cheers Chris

AI's goal with patenting the KeyMod system was to standardize it. As Tom stated, the design belongs to AI. SA or LA, the KeyMod dimensions and such are the same. The AX/AXMC share the same attachment methods.

I know what you guys are talking about here though - mainly the fact that the KeyMod system isn't retroactively listed as a feature on the AX rifles AFTER the 2014 release of the AT/AXMC. Probably has something to do with patents from a certain date forward.

The key slot system on AI rifles was designed by us and we have a patent pending on the design. Others have copied it so that is why you might think it is the same.

Not sure how to take this statement, as KeyMod (from everything I have read) has been out since 2012, and was (supposedly, according to internet sources) designed by Vltor and Noveske back then. Hence my confusion on whether AI was using something different(?), or perhaps just patenting it in the UK(?). Not sure how you patent something if it is the same as something that has been released open source (tech package is available on line to anyone) and is in the public domain.
