I don't know what you have in mind, but wouldn't a Mauser be better as far as availability of triggers, replacement stocks, etc.?

let me try to answer your questions. First a little background, I went to the range and a good buddy brought a bench rest gun that was a 6br. Built on a arisaka action with a kreiger barrell. I shot two groups at 100 that were prolly .25" or less. So I want one.

My plan is to find the action get a 18 twist krieger at 24 inches and in regards to parts available, i found triggers at timney and i found richards microfit stocks who make br style stocks and they have the inletting program for it. Bam done.

If anyone has any useful infor on sporterizing these that would be great, but no nay sayers I have a hard on for this project and you aint gonna talk me out of it.

    Thanks and happy shooting.

Do you know if your friend's action is type 38 or 99?

Give Lock, Stock, & Barrel in Temple City, CA a call. There was a sporterized Arisaka 6.5mm there on consignment a while back.
