Get Access SubscribeMy dad worked on this project. He transferred from the Navy, to the new Air Force, and took us from Corpus Christi NAS directly to Edwards AFB. His project was to help Boeing and North American Grumman to adapt the right wing for carrying the X-15. The inboard engines had to be moved outward, and the pylon added. Then they had to design the holds that would keep the X-15 mated tot the pylon and release when they were supposed to. There were two small windows added to the side of the B-52, for camera men. My dad was in the rearmost one for about half the flights. This photo looks like it is from the cockpit of the B-52. Great time to be a kid at Edwards.
