Any of y'all have experience with a 6XC or CM at the 18 - 20 inch mark ?

Thinking of putting one together once i get outta lock down for fallow, sika and red deer here in NZ.

Will be suppressed.

Cheers,

Stay Safe

I finished one a few weeks ago in 6cm with a 19” Krieger. I like it a lot. 105 Berger HVLD at 2950. Here’s four three shot groups shot back to back at 525yds

@Supersubes that is one gorgeous rifle!

@300_BLK I do not have any experience with an 18-20" 6XC or 6CM, but I have killed scores of whitetail deer with .243 rifles with 20" barrels usuppressed.

Your suggestions will certainly do the job. The worst thing about a 18 or 20" 6mm in that category is muzzle blast, but you won't have that problem.

Good luck.

I am hoping to build a 16 to 17 inch 6cm soon. You get a tiny bit more velocity over a 6xc.

I have a test barrel at 24" and I am going to chop it down till I get as low as 2850 fps. I am gonna test the 105 hybrids.

Gook lookin set up. Going to run close to the same set up in a 6.5
Ive been thinking about that as well. This particular 6xc barrel doesnt like these 103 eld (nor the 90 tgk) but it really likes the 105 rdf. I got it to hunt with but since it doesnt like what I want to hunt with like it does a match bullet Im tempted to pull it and go 6.5 for the bigger hole.

But for those deer, a 6mm is fine. I just want to see big holes in pigs but honestly I doubt that 6.5 will get me that either.

Not what a 30/06 will. Those 6mm bullets do a lot more damage when you get them up over 3000FPS.

The flip side of the muzzle blast coin is unburned powder in the suppressor. In shorter barrels with suppressors it isn't a bad idea to pay attention to percentage of powder burned in the barrel. It can get the suppressor hot really fast or fill it with powder that fizzes out when it ignites. The powder can also poor back down the barrel, and cause interference chambering rounds.
