Highest tide I've ever seen on the island. Went out to camp overnight and woke up to a new moat! Had to wait three hours for the tide to roll out and still had over a foot of water on the trail. Tough going on a bicycle with a 45 pound pack.

I duck hunt a lot of tidal water. Hunting on the bay a season or two ago we had an 11’ tide. 1/2 a mile hike over dry land to the elevated blind and by the time The ebb arrived we were standing in the blind with our gear on the roof. This photo was about 2 feet before high tide. The outgoing current was too strong to paddle the marsh rat. Hunting sucked until it got low enough to walk for birds. You had to hustle to get them.
