Nationwide Trucker Strike

Hi,

Everybody talks about protesting this and protesting that.
They are not going to take this and not going to take that.
Talk down to LEO with all the "Only doing my job" references to Nazi's, etc etc

YET nobody has left or risked their job to change anything. Just preach to the choirs on forums like this one.

The only successful protesting has been a bunch of basement living video gamers. They got their point across loud and clear.

Sincerely,
Theis

I drive a truck , and honestly this is the first time I've even heard about this . There is one major reason why a strike like that would never work and I can't say it without getting permanently banned.

Biggest reason it would never work is most Americans have been treated like my last Doberman rescue. They’ve been NEUTERED 😢

I never heard of a strike either. I drive. Honestly it would only take a day or two of trucks not running to make a huge impact. Most people have no idea just how dependent this country is on trucking. I haul alot of cheese it may be hauled to 2-3 different facilities before a finished packaged product is produced that would then be hauled to a warehouse and then the store. Many food items are the same.

Hi,

But yet get on forums demanding companies publicly pick a side while telling other people they should find new jobs if they find themselves in a position of "just doing my job" scenarios....all from the safety of their job that they have no intentions of risking lose of.

We (Gun owners) are our own worst enemy. We constantly demand others do this and do that, etc etc all while we are not doing it ourselves.

We isolate businesses from seeing our side because we demand them to either support us 100% or be seen as against us. When all the business is doing is trying to make a living and provide their employees a career.

We isolate ourselves into "genres" of shooting and talk shit to those other genres that we do no partake in.

We are closed minded in regards to actually expanding and growing the firearm industry/ownership to sectors of society that do not line up with our own personal beliefs....Gays, Women, Blacks, Sikhs, etc etc. We treat firearm ownership as if it should be the modern day fox hunting club.

Sincerely,
Theis

I think this was wishful thinking. I also doubt a truckers strike would accomplished much.

That's just my opinion.

Hi,

Wishful thinking I agree with. Although depending on what the statement was for such strike...it could accomplish a good bit IMO.
Just from the fuel tax numbers per day that the trucking industry provides to States and Fed is pretty staggering.
Then take into account the big cities (Dem controlled at that) cannot feed themselves for more than 48 hours without trucking industry.

Goes back to the old saying of "Difference between normal life and chaos is 9 meals"...when over 50% of a geographical population misses 9 meals....there are no rules or laws...it is all survival. We have seen this done purposely in other countries and we have seen this during natural disasters in every country.

Sincerely,
Theis

If a full blown truckers strike actually did happen this nation would be in shambles in two weeks, and even better yet a farmer strike would be much better. And even better yet a small community strike would be the best we always get shit on by the way the big cities vote because they think a salad and steak comes from the back of Walmart. Honestly if that type of a strike were to happen it would be the absolute best thing that ever happened to this country. Peoples eyes would open when people started starving to death! Unfortunately the Democrats are the only party with balls enough to pull something like that off and fortunately for the Democrats all farmers are God fearing Republicans. And unfortunately republicans don’t have a set of balls.

As I’ve said in the past, if every hardworking man in this country would stop going to work, you would see these fuckers hit their knees in short order! No taxes coming in. No services. No free monies etc. 1 month would do it!

I'm sure the air traffic controllers thought they were pretty important too right up until the time Reagan replaced them overnight. I really can't think of one job where a person couldn't be replaced nearly overnight. Brain surgeon, there are probably 1000 in India waiting to come, name one and prove me wrong. Don't get me wrong I appreciate that everything we buy is delivered by a trucker and you guys sacrifice family time being on the road, but dude you drive a fucking truck it's not rocket surgery.

I can think of one and probably a few more. Now while a pilot can be replaced........it would take time. Like weeks or months. by the time they could get flying the damage would be done. Same with Police Officers. Just to name a few.

Hi,

Try replacing licensed Vessel Captains with Unlimited tonnage licenses faster than a 1-2 year span.....Good Luck.
Try replacing offshore drillers without a huge huge spike in injuries faster than a 1-2 year span...

Although everything done by a human can absolutely be replaced...there are SEVERAL in which the time span to properly do so would cause catastrophic consequences.

Agree.

While unions hardly speak for all their members when it comes to politics, they do have a way of gathering their members around a self-survival cause. Being as the Teamsters, the largest truck driver union, endorsed Biden, thinking all drivers would be holding a strike to support Trump is pretty far fetched. A strike against autonomous driving trucks? Sure. Against doubling diesel taxes? Oh yeah. But in support of a politician of any party? Nope, they're as divided as the rest of America is on the subject.

Then add in that around 20% of class 8 truck drivers are foreign born. Do you think they really give a shit about politics enough to strike? Nope, they sure don't, but they would gladly continue running the higher paying loads and better routes from those who would if they did.

Replacing a few truck drivers wouldn't be a problem. Try 2 million or so. I have done quite a few different jobs in my life some pretty complex. If you think driving a truck is easy you should give it a try.

Cops can be replaced in the time it takes a governor to call up the National Guard. There are thousands of pilots around the world that fly the same aircraft we do that would be here before they could refuel the jets. All it would take is the prez's signature authorizing the visas. About anything that is vital to national security or economic security, you can bet your ass would not sit idle long before big brother would have it back in action. I say again we have an example of it happening with the air traffic controllers. They thought themselves irreplaceable, boy did they get a rude awakening. I bet a lot of carpenters, plumbers, roofers, concrete, just about name any construction trade thought they were irreplaceable, right up till the time that cheap labor they had been hiring started doing their work. Hell, you can't even find a white or black man on most construction sites up here anymore other than maybe the general contractor. Just think about how many military guys have CDLs that could be ordered to deliver goods if the need arises.

The shelves would be empty in 2 days. The carnage would start in 2 and a half days.

Amazon, UPS, FEDEX or some new combination of companies would be directly hired & contracted by cities, states or the like with emergency funds. Those contracts would be for at least 1 year and surely put the fuck to any truck drivers involved in a strike.
I"m not against a statement to prove a point, but sometimes a guy has to pick being right or being effective.
In the end all products would be would go up in price dramatically either way and us little consumers would be the only ones permanently dicked down.

Those carriers don't currently have enough capacity to deal with the holiday shipping rush, much less provide a replacement for OTR truckers. Plus, last time I checked, those common carriers you listed don't deal with things like liquid or dry bulk, livestock, grain hoppers, etc.

Good point, it would be a logistics nightmare. Commence the strike boys, you got this! YOU are the only ones that can bring us PS5's, bulk milk and TP.

It wasn't meant to offend all the flatbedders and over the road guys out there, more of a practical observation. Nation wide shut down and restriction of goods being delivered only spurs folks in charge to find solutions by any means necassary. To me that looks like the RR and or an opening for large corporations to fill the void and pay politicians their cut of emergency $.

If you think driving a truck is easy you should give it a try.
I think that goes for a lot of professions.

Once someone works in them they say “gee I never knew there was so much to this “
Like Bloomberg talking about machinists/factory workers/farmers.

Anyone that thinks they can replace any segment overnight if all the current workers quit is nuts

Lmao I could only image the FedEx and amazon goons local to my area giving semis. ALL the vans and delivery trucks they drive have dents all over from shitting shit
