Who the fuck makes a video like a fucking confessional about getting DQ'd at a match?

I've been DQ'd twice, both times for the same thing (180 violation) this doofus had to make some video apology to the IDPA gods.

The first time it was a brain fart where I turned in the exact opposite direction that I told myself I should. I caught myself and had already started turning back down range while unloading even before the RO could say stop. The second time it was a borderline situation where I didn't think I broke it but the RO did.

Never have I ever thought of posting such display of public drama about it. I just cleaned up my movement and gunhandling and went on with life.

PS the guy is frustrated because he couldn't see the target? WTF they were very well lit and right in FRONT of him less than 10 yards away! Was he shooting with his fucking eyes closed?

I shot in a few IDPA local matches. The RO considered DQing me for a 180 violation (which was borderline) I cleared a corner entering a room. He basically gave me a warning since I am LEO and that's how we train.

My big problem came where they had two stages designed to fire from standing in a doorway. I went thru and engaged the target. The RO basically said I cheated by not shooting from the doorway. I tried to explain why that was bad. After several attempts and him arguing with me, I gave up trying and left never to return. He simply said that tbe guys that designed the stages don't know proper tactics.

I haven't been dq'd yet but is only a matter of time and matches until it happens. When I do, I will post an apology video here just for @308pirate

LOL here's my DQ apology video

IDPA is ok fun but hell all most people do is throw on a large "Cover" vest and shoot it with race guns anyway lol.

I would actually shoot it with my P01 from concealment. I wasn't winning anything by playing fair. Shadow under a large vest and now where talking haha.

When I do shoot it, I never wear a vest. I always use my street clothes to conceal.

But IDPA is dumb. Its quasi tactical nature is dumb. Its rulebook is dumb, still leaving too many subjective calls.

I first shot IDPA back in 1996, when Wilson and Hackathorn first thought it up. The concept was ok, because IPSC was totally the opposite of "tactical". However, it was obvious almost immediately that anything with a timer was still a game, which people wanted to win, and not training. Always remember it's just another game.

That's the problem with IDPA. Even after all these years there are people high up in the org who seem to refuse to accept that it is JUST a game and they continue to pretend that it has some sort of tactical angle to it.

I'm OK with it being different from USPSA in some fundamental ways.

I am NOT ok with these things:
    1. Being forced to solve the problem their way, in a paint-by-the-numbers fashion
      1. There are ways to give shooters more freedom to solve the problem while still forcing shooters to not do things like blowing corners and blowing by unengaged targets
      2. Their "tactical priority" target engagement rules were nonsense from the start but are beyond stupid now that I can be exposed to several targets at a time while still behind "cover" aka the fault line.
    2. STILL having a shit rulebook that
      1. leaves too many things to individual interpretation based "intent" or "spirit of the game" bullshit
      2. Is rife with contradictions and undefined terms (go ask about the difference between cover and concealment)
    3. Their officiating, which at the local match level is almost universally bad beyond belief. People acting as Safety Officers (can't call them Range Officers, cause we can't be like USPSA) who:
      1. Have no fucking idea of what the firearm start conditions should be for each division. I've seen people starting with cocked DA/SA pistols, which in USPSA is an instant DQ but surprisingly is not in IDPA. WTF
      2. Can't read a god damned stage description verbatim. They ad lib it and end up confusing the fuck out of the other clueless shooters (most of the squad)
      3. Can't be bothered to remember a simple set of standardized range commands (very important to safety)
    4. Match directors that can't write a simple, brief, coherent stage description
      1. I've lost count of the stage briefings in which we stood around trying to decipher what the fuck is it that we were supposed to do.
About the only time I shoot IDPA is if I'm so hard up for a match that I can't wait for the next USPSA shoot. And I refuse to renew my membership.
