@Mike Islander - where dat be?

I wanna go camping where there isnt much wind and its warm.
Last trip had temps in the teens.
took a week being home to find my wiener.
One joy of cold camping is no skeeters and no flies though.
Dawho river near Edisto, SC. 60s during the day and 50s at night lately. Every few nights drops into the 40s. Too damn much rain lately, but definitely no complaints on temperature. But I really do want to camp in some 0-10 degree weather to test out some gear.

My own private sea island and completely isolated beach. Serenity indeed. That night I heard nothing but a gentle breeze, the lapping of waves on the beach, and the soft patter of misty rain on the tarp.

Zip on out to Denver.

I can take you to some cold spots. 😁

The elevation might kick a sea level guy’s butt though.

Too true. Even as an athlete anything over 7k kicked my ass...bad! We had a business in Santa Fe and I would visit every month. Had to take meds to keep from getting edema. :)

Adding into the above pic.
I wonder if that is one of the first 9 to be built.
82-0001 (first B model) had reddish colored wire looms running through the weapons bays instead of the normal white ones.

All I know is I don’t think any of those were supplied to me. Every time I talked to bone it was a female pilot.

What do you find strange about this commercial? There is 1 glaring thing about this commercial that makes no sense. It's not that the cell phone was on the outside of the space suit.

Answer to follow.

Must belong to the Guard, that poor aircraft is filthy.
Nope. All B-1s are now active duty. They don't fly much anymore though. To get one in the air, they typically have to start up 3-4 and steal parts from another 3-4. That picture was probably taken years ago in the desert before an OIR mission.

Power has been out for about 3 hours here. Got the generators running so we have heat. It’s still freezing rain and I can hear trees breaking and falling all over. Gonna be ugly in the morning.
@Lawless and @dustingaunder I feel for you guys. 40 years in the electric industry (lineman) is that the damage will last long after the ice is gone. Temps here from -5 to -22 but I'll take the cold before the ice. Take care and stay safe. Tree branches and other stuff will be falling for awhile.

I do remember them all going back to active units.

All the time I wasted going to spare parts conferences and the AF let the TAC weenies decide how to run bomber wings. Fucking stupid.

When SAC was still around, we never Canned parts. Going ACC fucked that all up.
Nothing like letting the supply folks sit around while we did Recreational Maintenance canning parts.
We sent so many serviceable parts to the boneyard just so supply didn't have to store them and have them readily available.
Total bullshit and a waste of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of parts just junked out.

Back to that photo.
Even in deployed times, we never let our aircraft look like that. Maybe it was just pride in our equipment and ourselves.

I might be a little bitter about canning parts. 😁

Ha, ha, “recreational maintenance”! Unfortunately that still goes on and pride has taken a hit due to the things you mentioned. The bomber fleet is a mere shadow of what it used to be under SAC.

Dude,
I'm a SAC trained killer!!

Myself and a bunch of other guys got sent to Mildenhall (Mouldyhole) during the gulf war to support the European Tanker Task Force.
Any time we got together (mostly at the pubs and clubs) we'd all yell that out!

We got a lot of dumb looks, but we thought it was funny as hell.

I haven't heard that phrase in decades.
