It won't please everyone, but in the SCR its a cross.

Burris had a fully illuminated grid in the H591 XTRII, it was ok, but not great.
What about the reticle people are actually interested in....

Can you ask that Burris releases the subtension drawings at release, and that they actually make sense rather than the current ones on the website.

Oh and if the reticle in the 3.3-18 isn't thicker than the one in thee 5.5-30 can you please give the product manager a round house kick.
Much appreciated.

They have subtension drawings. Download the manual for the scope.
I'm not sure what happened to the English manual but math reads the same in all languages

Edit**
That being said, it lists them the same for the 3-18 and 5-30 which I'm not sure is right. The reticles in each scope is etched "SCR-2 18x" or "SCR-2 30x". I can't imagine they would etch them differently if the reticle was exactly the same.

They have made changes to the reticle.

What that plays out to in thickness I don't know. And I'm afraid I have no input on what goes on the website.

I could live with the red on the turret but the mag ring just looks silly to me.

How so? It's a one and done.It only sticks to itself so there's no residue left behind either.

i do think the knurling is rough but in a good way. I run extra agressive grips on my 2011 also. I like it for me but I can see how a child wouldn't like it.

The new turret doesn't have aggressive knurling at all. Mine isn't as tight as a couple of my older XTR3s. But its more tactile. The turret is larger and easier to grip.

I have 5 XTRIIs. If I bitch enough about the tight eyebox on the 5-25s will they replace them with XTR3s? Asking for a friend...

I do have 5 XTRIIs.

I don’t have friends. Okay, maybe 3.

wow…i havnt thought of the shankster for an easy 5 years. thanks for all the memories. now to find some eye bleach laugh out loud

knobs not interchangeable but the new larger knobs are smooth and by far the best ive used. gen 2 razor was my old fav. these new ones are so big, shankster would like em. haha. i mean so big that even tho its 12 mils now, the spacing is a tad larger than the xtr3

good times. keep the memes coming. haha.

Just spoke to one of the decision makers at Burris. He told me a LOT about where Burris is headed here at the outset of 2022. A lot of really positive things going on!

He's headed into a meeting today to discuss the rollout out of 2022 offerings. I think its looking like they will be trickling out information as Dorgan and I have been doing, but it will be more revealing. We are trying to give you guys information and answer questions without making those guys mad at us for stealing their thunder 😉

So hopefully they will start dropping more info here shortly. Dorgan and I will bring it over from the various social media outlets they intend to use. And I can confirm that there will not be a months long wait to get these products to market. They are in production and will be for sale at Shot. It may be possible for us to give a heads up as to what retailers have bought them if you are interested in getting your hands on one.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I'll be sure to reach out after Shot and see if I can narrow down the list of retailers who managed to get their hands on some.

The 3.3-18x arrived today.

I never had a problem with my 4-20x XTR II but this XTR III is a heck of an upgraded model. The glass looks good with just a hint of purple fringing if I’m at a light transition. The field of view is incredible. The scr2 reticle is nice and thin, I think I’ll like it coming from normal scr mil and mr4 reticles.

For $1100 this was a killer deal.

Yeh, that's a great buy on that scope.. I love my 18x and hope to get another one here soon.

I hope Burris is compensating @D_TROS & @Birddog6424 well... I keep forgetting this optic exists until you guys post about it. You do 99% of the marketing for them on forums.

It might have been said and I missed it but the red isn't going to be the only option is it? I'm guessing/hoping not.
Literally this is where you find out info. I shoot for burris in Australia and I provide them with information from here

I live in New Zealand and it took the NZ importers (Beretta) about 18 months to get any stock, they only got in the 5.5-30 model and only got the MOA model.....

To top it off it cost 700USD more than the Steiner TX5i, which is total BS.
Still haven't seen any 3.3-18 scopes here.

Burris USA should start sending stuff direct to us far away countries so that we don't have to wait 24months for a new product and don't get priced gouged by inept distributers.

I tried to get scopelist to match the primary arms deal even though they are out of stock. No dice...lol

In their defence it's at least double as good as the t5xi

True, but the TX5i and XTRIII are both made in Greeley and both ship from the US.
So how the XTR3 in the US can be the cheaper scope but by the time it reaches NZ has doubled in price god only knows....

Same thing here. It's something about international sales. Part of my contract with beretta I get things very cheap and they can't even match retail in the states

But you aren't factoring in the people who sell the NX8's to buy the XTR III's when they do come out. :D Seriously, I just don't see the NF competing at the same level as the XTR III just because they are close to the same price point, the XTR III is a 5.5x mag range while the NX8 is an 8x mag range - there are just too many compromises to make for NF to build an 8x mag range scope and sell at the $2k price point, my guess is that many early adopters will realize these limitations soon enough. But as you mentioned, Birddog, the fact that it says NF will probably be enough to keep those scopes hot on the market even if the XTR III is better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the NX8 will be worthless, I'm just saying at its price point there are some compromises that had to be made and I think those compromises will be more than what we see in the XTR III. If I'm wrong and the NX8 turns out to punch way above its class optically then kudo's to NF, but I will reserve that judgement until they get into unbiased hands for a competent review.

For those who might be wondering "what compromises", here is just a few of what an 8x erector tends to have:
  • More finicky eyebox (less forgiving)
  • Shallow DOF
  • you have to make more parallax adjustments
Take a look at March, they've been making 8x FFP scopes for quite some time now, these scopes sell for over $3000 but still suffer from the above issues, the NX8 shares similar traits in high magnification range, 30mm tube and short body but sell for over $1000 more than the NX8, maybe NF figured out how to cut costs without compromising optical/mechanical quality, I would love that but I also have great difficulty thinking that NF has undercut their very popular ATACR line which costs quite a bit more; therefore, I think NF cut corners to get the NX8 at the current price point.

Back to the XTR III, I find it interesting that Burris is actually using a 7x erector in their design, but only using 5.5x mag range out of that, it could be to cut costs but they've also managed to provide a very impressive FOV for both the 3.3-18 and 5.5-30 and FOV matters more than magnification for me - I'll take a 6x scope that has greater FOV than a 5x almost any day. This is what DT is talking about when he mentions "the FOV cant be stressed enough when looking for targets under time duress" because if you can't see the target then you can't hit the target. Target acquisition is extremely important in our sport, and if you're competing or you're hunting then having that little bit of edge might make the difference in your timing or your ability to make the kill.
This post has aged well.

DTROS rifle porn from early in this thread has my wallet burning.
The 3.3-18 if nothing else the looks bloody cool.

Is it release time yet?
