When I loaded the 85.5 Berger’s I had the best accuracy at 0.035” jump. Might try that to see if things tighten up in your next outing. In my 24” ar 26.5 of cfe223 averaged 2728 and a 0.6” group using the 88 eld-m’s at 0.035” jump as well.

    6mm ARC Load Data

Shot this group with hornady black 105’s today in 5 degrees and howling wind. They are 0.2 mils lower than my 100 TGK handloads. I was holding on the left side of the marker dot at 100 yards. So hopefully when it warms up and the wind subsides I will see if I can repeat this group. The other...

Yep that is from too much lube. Trim and fire and you will have fireformed cases after that.

Anneal and resize through your arc die. Don’t forget to trim you will need to trim a lot. Reuben

With 748 it is really close to blc-2 and cfe223 in burn rate I’d use their starting data for those powders to work up a load using the latter. Reuben

    .224 Valkyrie

I’ve run 760 up to 28.4 grains with 95smk’s. I got it to 2700 with that load but it was starting to compress and the accuracy wasn’t there out of my 6.5 twist 24” barrel. They were also loaded way long (2.355”oal) using cutout mags. 760 shot better around 2600 in my barrel but r17 got me better...

Could be a slow barrel but generally if it is new it won’t speed up til around a 100 rounds down the barrel.

R17 is my go to for 95smk’s. Also windowed mags will let you get closer to the lands and should help with groups with certain bullets.

You should be able to find a nice load using those components. The 88’s are very forgiving and shoot well from 0.090”-0.035” off the lands. With your 20” barrel I’m guessing you should find a node around 2700-2750 and be on the top end of pressure as well.

    .224 Valkyrie

If I didn’t find a load with the 80’s I’d still be shooting the 88’s. They are definitely not picky about jump as long as it’s not too close as you mentioned. They were happy running at 2725 in my 24” Bbl just not quite as accurate as my current 80 grain load. Consistently shooting 0.6-0.75moa...

    .224 Valkyrie

Yep I did the same thing with all my Valkyrie mags and even my 6 ARC mags as well. I only run 10 rounders in these calibers anyway. Yes the 85.5lr Berger’s liked a 0.035” jump as well in my rifle which had them around 2.325-2.33”. I have one of the longer freebore barrels though and a sammi...

Nice results. The 80 eldm likes 0.035”-0.045” jump for your information. I use windowed mags as well to get them to where they want to be which in my rifle is 0.045” jump. I look forward to your results.

    .224 Valkyrie

I see your point. Hornadys definitely need to be culled if you want the consistency of Berger’s. I always get a flyer here and there from my hornady eldm’s but nothing bad enough for me personally. Also they hammer game pretty well and I haven’t tried the Berger’s yet to see how they do in the...
