Rifle Scopes NF Atacr 1-8 vs vortex gen 3 1-10

I am looking at both of these scopes. I plan on being able to switch between multiple rifles including a SCAR-16, SCAR-17, and MDRX in multiple calibers. This means a mil based non-BDC reticle suits me. I do compete in 3 gun matches in tactical and tactical heavy metal division. The SCAR-17...

Rifle Scopes Scope for a SCAR 17s

I have a SCAR 17s that currently wears an Eotech EXPS 3-0 with a G33 3x magnifier that works well for heavy metal division in 3 gun. I am looking into getting another scope for some long range fun with it. I am looking for a 20" barrel assembly for it so I can shoot out to 1000 better than...

Video - AX338 to 2000m for the Larry Vickers Tactical Channel

What kind of suppressor and mount system are you running on that rifle Frank?

Do I need to clean the barrel before the first shot?

The main thing that can damage a barrel during cleaning is improper cleaning. Such as not using a bore guide, damaging the crown pulling the rod and jag back through. I always give the barrel a quick cleaning before the first shot to get out the factory rust preventative or any other residue...

    Rem.700 ACC-SD 308

A 1-10 twist .308 will stabilize just about anything 180 and under; even with most subsonic loads. If there is any question about stability, check out the stability calculator on JBM ballistics website. You will need the bullet length (available for most bullets on JBM's website), weight...

Rifle Scopes I need a list of scopes, your input is needed

I will say check out the Nightforce BEAST if you can afford it. 20 mils per rev. The 1065 yard steel target at my range here in Colorado only gets me to 10 mils with a 175gr SKG at 2700fps out of my AX308MC.

    1903 Springfield purchase

I am looking for a 1903 Springfield rifle just to add to the collection and for nostalgia factor being the WW1 rifle for the US. I want one that I can shoot and not a safe queen. I am aware of the recever metallurgy issue below serial number 800,000. Besides having a reciver, bore, and crown...

    precision rifles... show em

AI AX308MC, Nightforce BEAST, SPUR mount, Atlas bipod. This thing will print sub 1/4" groups and ring the 1065 yard steel plate at my local range 9-10 times with the miss being a sudden wind gust during bullet flight. AWESOME RIG!

    Performing ladder test

For my ladder test with my AX308MC, (link below) I had a USPSA target at 300 yards turned around so the white side faced me. I placed a 3" orange sticker for an aiming point. I was able to spot .30 cal holes at 300 using the Nightforce BEAST and the Alpen 20-60x80mm spotting scope I have...

interpreting ladder test with 155 lapua scenars and varget,

I found a good accuracy node with my AX308 using .5gr increments just fine. The orange stickers are 3" and all ladders were 300y using 175gr SMK, 2.800" COL. The powders were Varget, R-15, and IMR-4064.

Any reason you never see builds on Winchester Actions?

I have a Kimber 84L Montana that is based on the M70. .3moa at 100y. It is interesting that most actions you see on custom and high end factory rifles are push feed style actions. I don't see anything wrong with push feed or controlled round feed.

First ladder test for AI AX308MC

All ladders were run at 300y firing one shot per charge while recording the velocities with a crono about 10' downrange. All shots were fired ~2min apart checking for pressure signs along the way. This is IMR 4064, the wind was gusting to 13mph. I am thinking 46.0 which gave me 2807fps...

    .308 Build

My .308 has a 24" barrel and I can make 1000 yards shots easily after accounting for the variables. I do have a Kestrel 4500 with applied ballistics to get the dope close. I can stay within 1 MOA for multiple shots at that range after dialing in. A 308 WILL get the job done at 1000 yards...

    .308 Build

I have seen a lot of rigs under $3000 that shoot 1000y easy and are 1/2 moa at 100. I have also seen other rigs at similar price points that are very finicky. My recent buy was a "Buy once cry once" approach. AIAX 308MC, Night force BEAST, SPUR mount, and Atlas bipod (around $11,000). What...

    POI shift in AX308MC .308 vs .260

I knew that the zero would not be the same. I just was not expecting the horizontal shift to be 1.2 mil at 100. As long as the shift is consistent then no need to worry.
