    should I Blueprint my receiver

Unless you are planning to re-barrel I wouldn't bother with it now. If you blueprint "true" your action now the gunsmith will have to recut your barrel threads to square up with your trued action and possibly mess with head spacing, recoil lug, among other things. After all that it's still a...

Opinion - Having Rem 700 LA Trued

Just shoot it! You won't notice any significant difference in a trued action with the factory barrel. If you true the action the gunsmith will have to re-cut your barrel threads and most likely replace your recoil lug while at it. Added costs for a still factory barrel performance.

    Mcmillan wait times

The sales reps will tell you about 6 months. Just placed my order for an A-5 a couple days ago and that's what they told me.

    Help a writer out?

Probably gong to get a lot of flak for saying this but being that this will be a sci-fi have you considered the weapon system being a rail gun? This would allow you to modify ballistics to suit you 5000yrd shot. As for optics, that could be a little trickier. Could work up a system that uses a...

    Gunsmithing Precision gunsmith listings?

I'm aware of what is involved to blueprint an action but most gunsmiths aren't set up or don't have first hand knowledge of how to. William Roscoe is no longer taking on work and is soon closing shop. Mr. Roscoe refered me to another local smith but I would like to have a back up just incase...

    Gunsmithing Precision gunsmith listings?

Are there any compiled lists of gunsmiths for precision rifles anywhere on the forums? Preferably broken down into states. It's hard to weed through all the gunsmiths on Google who only build AR and hunting rifles with no first hand knowledge of how to blueprint a Remington 700 action.

Gunsmithing What is really needed to true up a factory Rem. Action?

Unfortunately you are correct. I talked to him today and he is finishing up the orders he has and getting out of the custom rifle making. He has already taken his website down.

Gunsmithing What is really needed to true up a factory Rem. Action?

I have contacted Mr. Roscoe in the past but he hasn't answered my last few emails and his website seems to be down. I will have to try calling him here when I get off work soon.

Gunsmithing What is really needed to true up a factory Rem. Action?

That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't say the gunsmith doesn't know what he is doing, he has excellent reviews and is know for his reconditioning of vintage guns, I just don't know if it will be money well spent if he doesn't re-cut the threads concentric.

Gunsmithing What is really needed to true up a factory Rem. Action?

I'm in North West Louisiana, Bossier City to be exact.

Gunsmithing What is really needed to true up a factory Rem. Action?

I'm drawing closer to getting all my parts together to drop off to the gunsmith for a rebarrel. It's a Remington 700 L/A I'm having trued while at the gunsmith. My question is the action, how much machine work is not enough for long range shooting? The local gunsmith says he only trues the...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Tactical Machining's 1911 frame?

Just wondering if anyone has any hands on with Tactical Machining's 1911 frames?( 80% TM Recon Frame - 1911 ) I'm looking at options to convert a cast frame 1911 to a steel frame with rail. Seems they have a finished frame coming soon.

    McMillan lead time

Does McMillan make you put a down payment or pay up front when you order from them? I was planning on putting in an order around Christmas time but if they don't charge upfront I might put it in earlier. I know places like Stocky's and Bugholes.com have them in stock but with the hefty military...

    Re-barreling a 700 at home?

I'm wondering why everyone says you have to have a gunsmith re-barrel your Rem. 700 action? What is to stop someone from getting a barrel threaded, muzzle cut/crowned, and chamber cut from the smith and install the barrel yourself? Barrel wrench, chamber finish reamer, and a go/ no go gauge set...

    300wm vs 7rm external ballistics past 1000yrds?

What length barrel were you shooting out of? Why are there such velocity variations among the 300win mag shooters? I've seen averages from 2800fps up to 3000fps, that seems like a broad range. Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
