    OK, I only have enough work out of the headstock for tool/tool holder clearance. Excessive stock out of the headstock will cause chatter. I thread at 70 rpm. Slow it down

    Set the compound at 29.5 degrees. Make sure tool is square with work. Move tool in to contact using cross slide. Zero the dials. Feed tool only using the compound slide (I start with a .010” cut) stopping when tool is in relief groove. Back out with cross slide and move carriage back to start...

    Someone asked about Varget. My load is 32.5g with 88 ELD-M and CCI 450 Alpha brass, 3115 fps Hornady averaged 3095 fps. SD are about 5-6 range. 26" Proof 7 tw.

    Sorry for the late reply. I loaded up to 56 g RE26 and started showing signs of pressure. Velocity was at 3000. I switched gears for antelope season. I came up with 55.5 g of RE23, Sierra 130 TGK at 3250, 2.965" , .5 - .6 moa, and no pressure. Complete pass through on a goat last year at...
