I have found the 215 Hybrid a great choice for long range shooting and hunting in a 300 win. If you have one of the larger case offerings the 230. Lighter lower BC offering may start faster but they also slow faster. The higher BC heavies will arrive with more retained velocity, energy and...
I was with Shawn Carlock a few years ago and we took the 300 OTM Bergers transonic. He was shooting an EDGE and I was shooting a 338 LM. Both were holding 1 moa transonic. Back then I did test the SMK's against the OTM's subsonic from the 338 LM. I really liked the SMK but they went goofy as...
If you want to breath new long range life into that 300 win load up some 215 Berger Hybrids. They are really something and killing machines. My 300 win just went 21 and 0 for first round big game kills. Elk, deer and antelope. That includes 3 antelope past 1000. Longest was at 1285. They are...
You mean .338 / 300 gr OTM's correct? not .30 cal , I believe that is a type o. I have shot these bullets transonic in many 338 Edge, 338 lapua and 338 Lapua AI's. Plus my new LRKM in .338 Terminator +P with a MV of 3200. They go transonic just past 2500 yards in the LRKM / Terminator. I...
Thanks! I moved though. Just a couple miles down the road in a sweet little spot we built a new home. I went 2500 yards from the yard the other night and could go a bit further. Gotta love Montana. Jeff
Thank you. I have seen many many times where a 338 with a 300 gr bullet will shoot cvonsistent 1" groups at 100 yards. That is not good enough to suit me. What I have learned is I can take that same rifle that is shooting consistent 1" and a few groups under at 100, and shoot it at 200 and...
I started this thread 3 yrs ago. I think I need to update it. My 338 LM has been replaced with a Defensive Edge LRKM in .338 Terminator +P sending 300 Berger OTM's at 3200 fps MV. This rifle has already proven to me it is a true long range Hammer. 2 weeks ago my son and I were shooting and I...
300 win, 215 Berger (BC .696) 3000+ fps from a 10 twist 28" barrel and a JP brake. Large game to 1000 deer and antelope to 1300 +. Steel or rocks to a mile plus. Hard combo to beat no matter how much sugar you sprinkle on the others. Jeff
The 7mm-300 win. I neck down a 300 win to 7mm and yes use H-1000. It is not quite as fast as some 7mm's but still retains good barrel life. I feel it is as far as I want to push a 7 as I have had my share of throat burners and I am over that for the most part. Jeff
Thanks for that info, I just wanted to compare it to a few 7mm-300 wins I have put together. We run 10+ grains more depending on brand of brass and case volume, but we are getting north of 3100, to as high as 3175 with 180's at 4100' asl. So far barrel life has been good. Thanks Jeff
My ATACR is mounted 2.7" above barrel C/L on a custom 65 MOA rail. I am zeroed at 100 yards and still have 8 to 10 moa below zero. I like to keep a few moa away from bottoming out on both ends of my internal elevation. With this rifle sending the 300 Bergers with a G7 BC of close to .4, at...
Those are awesome velocities. We saw pressure just above 72 gr of H-1000 in our 28" Broughton. So we stopped at 72 gr and a velocity of 2775. Thanks! Jeff
