    nice sporter! love the cheap and effective 7.62x54r... McGowen makes barrels of the right bore diameter.. Another thing one could try is to just buy a $100 GreenMountain blank they have a few that are .3085" bore.. most surplus Russian is like .3095" so one oculd shoot it in a .308 barrel.

If you decide on wood I just saw Gorilla gunworks has a laminated Anshutz style prone stock and after I called them he said that he could cut the barrel channel for HB or just leave steps out so I could finish the way I wanted.
