About a year ago I was shooting with some guys at my range and got some decent trigger time on a 16 inch PredatOBR using 175 FGMM. Longest target we had that day was a steel silhouette at something like 1030 yards. It definitely required more wind and elevation than the 6.5 and 338 Lapua, but it...
I have both an Atlas bipod and Harris. Ive used Harris a lot over the years and when I was in the Army. They are rugged and simple. The Atlas definitely has more adjustments and can be placed in different positions that the Harris cant. They both will serve you well and both are rugged designs...
My local Sportsmans Warehouse here in Phoenix has had one the last couple times Ive gone in. I think they were different ones too so I think they have a supply of them. IIRC they were the non adjustable carbon fiber models and were 2149.
My local Sportmans Warehouse has had a couple Waypoints with the carbon barrel. $2149 They were busy so I havent fondled one yet. It definitely looks good though.
I agree with you on LE Snipers not needing lagre rifles. I would point out that Dallas had the recent incident where the guy attacked their HQ building with an old armored car he bought. Dallas SWAT shot him through the windshield with a 50 because their 308s wouldn't penetrate the armored...
For several years I was shooting a Rem700 LTR with a 20 inch 1in12 barrel. Main load was a 178 Amax handload or 175 FGMM. Both shot very well out past 900 yards.
I wont tell you not to buy a 338LM because if it's what you want then go for it. We all have those wants that might not make sense to others. I will say that a 300WM at 1200 will get easy pretty quick. They guys I shoot extended range with dont even shoot their 300WM rifles until they go past...
Im not a big hunter but I have several family and friends that are. My group has seriously drank the 6.5 CM koolaid and hunt with it a lot using mostly 143 ELD-X. They have taken something like 10 elk and probably a half dozen mule deer here in Az and surrounding states with that combo. All have...
I recently shot a 16 inch Larue OBR (1in10 twist) out to 1030 yards using FGMM 175s. No issues. Ive shot a shorty 308 with a fast twist around 1in8, I cant remember exactly, but it was built like that to shoot subs.
Took my brother in law out to shoot his Mk12 clone and M40(ish) build at some real range. It's the first time he shot the AI and immediately understood why they are so highly regarded. His first time shooting the gun when we were sighting in at 100 yards, he shot a 1/2 inch group...
I had a 10x Mk4 back around 2003 to 2006. Great scope never had any issues with it. Sold it and the Savage 10FP because I was a newly married young Army E4 and needed money. Around 2008 or 2009 I bought a SS 10x to go on my Rem700 build. Another good optic that served me well until I moved on...
