    338 Lapua and US869

I have been using H1000 in my Sako for many years with great success and have no desire to change. However, H1000 is becoming impossible to obtain. I have been able to get a couple of jugs of US869 as a backup so that I can keep shooting until the H1000 supply situation is resolved. Here in...

    A minute high at 610 and 1050?

Scopes are mechanical devices and therefore have construction tolerances. It may not be huge but it becomes significant over distance. Both my Sightrons move 0.975 for each 1 moa on the knob. My S$B moves 0.987 per moa input. Ivan

    A minute high at 610 and 1050?

This prompts me to ask, have you calibrated your scope using the tall target test and applied that correction factor to you inputs?

Finally, it's gone in to my thick skull. Many thanks John, my understanding of the situation is now total. I'm looking at a 50 moa base with 70 moa in the scope on a 338 Lapua. I have the privilege of being able to shoot out to 3000 yards 10 minutes from home. That's why I'm asking this...

Late reply??? if your signature is correct it must be early in the morning in London. This from a Brit. in Western Canada at 22.20 at night! Thinks!!! that means I'm talking to tomorrow???? OK, now I'm beginning to see the light and it makes me realize that I phrased my question wrong...

Yes, I understand that level of math though I appreciate you taking the trouble to simplify it for me. This is where my dumbness takes over. If I raise the zero datum by 4 moa and the program then lowers the result by 4 moa isn't that OK? No? I realize I must be missing something here but...

    RCBS Sidewinder Drum Dimensions

Drive band at the front and rear drum diameter is 8" The drum body tapers from rear to front. Length from base to front of drive band is 8 5/8", overall length to include cap is 9" The cap is not a water tight seal and is a friction fit. When stainless tumbling I use Seran Wrap under the...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Mobile App

Thanks John, I kinda figured that might be the case!! I'm intrigued though that, when I run two identical calculations out to 3000 yards, adding 4 inches to the 100 yard zero gives a 4 MOA reduction in the product. I just don't have enough understanding of the math to grasp the details.

I would like an answer to the followig hypothetical (at the moment) question. The program strongly recommends a 100 yard zero to reduce atmospheric variences. If a rifle is sighted say, 4 inches high at 100 yards and the Zero Height input is set to 4 inches and the zero set to 100 yards, will...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Mobile App

I have used the program extensively on the Nexus over ranges out to 1600 yards with five different rifles/calibers and it has performed extremely well. I am not deterred by this one small problem. If I am using the truing feature I simply change the screen display to night, complete the...

That works for me Chuck but these old eyes don't like the night screen too well!! Hopefully you will get the resolved in time?

    Chambering problem

Rifles is a Sako TRG-S in 338 LM. Brass and bullets are Lapua. Federal primers, H1000 powder. Regardless of the powder load from mild to near hot all cases extract comfortably and easily but, if I try to re-chamber them the bolt is very hard to close. Neck sizing alone makes no difference...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Mobile App

I have just discovered a problem with my software running on a Nexus tablet. When I open the Ballistic Calibration screen, the keyboard appears as does an input line under Range 1. However, the keyboard does not work inputting data onto the input line. If I persist an error window appears...
