    Gunsmithing Lug Lapping?

    I use Brownells silicon carbide 240 & 400 grit. Start with the 240 and finish up with the 400.

    If you have dental picks you can cut the head off a Q-tip and stick on a 90 degree pick and reach in and clean the lug seats fairly thoroughly.

    To support a couple of inches forward of the lug makes sense to me especially for heavy barrels. On the same hand I've noticed that some of the chassis systems out there (A.I., Cadex, Rem. RAC, and others) all end their support at the lug leaving the barrel fully free floating. Was just curious...
