    Sold my bike so time to dump some money into an investment... By investment I mean rifle. I was looking into a 338 win mag, 300 win mag, or 7rem mag. I don't know much about the ultra mags. I would like to use this rifle to shoot elk, deer, and slap some steel around at 800-1000'yards or so...

    Thank you all for the help and the advice. Now time to do some shopping. :) I need to ship the gun off and have a gunsmith install a muzzle break on it. Packs a decent punch, but still pretty excited about it.

    Just picked up a Remington model 700 in a 300 win mag. Hopefully a good caliber for it. I need to put some glass on it, and I would like it to be slapping some steel plates at 1000 yards and maybe set a goal to shoot 1700. Who knows....maybe wishful thinking. :) What do you guys recommend...
