    Backup knife for the field

I keep a good Victorinox boning with my havalon in the kill kit, incase of having to bone an animal in the field (did that last week). I ran out of blades on the ol havalon and the boning knife was all I had left.

    Backup knife for the field

I appreciate that input fellas! Sounds like the mora companion will be on the list. At the price these knives are sold, I may even buy one of the more expensive ones as well. How does the stainless steel mora compare for more money?

    Backup knife for the field

Looking at adding another cheap backup knife to my kill kit. I've been using a havalon piranta for years with the 60A and 70A blades and I absolutely love it but want to have backup for just in case. Majority of my gutting, skinning, etc is deer, beer, and hog. Been looking at the Mora knives...

    Reloader 16, 6.5cm

Got some reloader 16 to burn up and wanted to test it in my tikka 6.5 creed with a 142 ABLR. Not much data out there on this combo so does anyone have some data they would share for expectations? Alliant shows ~43-43.6gr as max with 140 class bullets and Hornady brass but Lapua brass usually...

    Alliant 1200-R, 22-250 rem

Got a pound of this Alliant 1200-R and planned on using it as an easy to meter powder for 40 gr vmax in 22-250. Only data available is the alliant website which lists 40gr nosler BT. Has anyone got any experience here? Or any load data other than the alliant?

    Varmint hunting optics

Great explanation and that explains it much better. The PST gen 2s I have would be perfect but a little out of budget for the moment. I did however take a look at a Vortex Venom 5-25 ffp and it seems like a solid contender for a lower budget. I like the idea of using the reticle and not dialing...

    Varmint hunting optics

Has anyone tried to use the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 ffp? That seems like a possible option and not to far out of budget

    Varmint hunting optics

I'll give those a look too. I like the ffp most of the time, unless I'm in the thick stuff on low mag, gets a little hard to see. I usually do not dial this rifle, once zero I'm good to hold hair out to about 300

    Varmint hunting optics

Thats definitely something to consider. Would the FFP be a good option for the smaller targets?

    Varmint hunting optics

I have a 3 of the PST gen 2s in 5-25 and 3-15 love them. They are awesome but a little rich for the blood at the moment

    Varmint hunting optics

Went groundhog hunting for the first time a while ago and had an absolute blast. Used my coyote/fox rifle I built for medium range hunting out to ~300yds (26" Rem700). Rifle did great and the handloads are stellar with berger 52 gr hp. I ran into a slight issue with the scope tho, there wasn't...

    Model 70 question

    Model 70 question

Do you know what the difference is between the model 70, the super shadow and the black shadow? I'm not understanding the significant price variation as it do not own a model 70

    Model 70 question

Is this the super shadow that I have read about? They are cheaper than the typical model 70 ?
