You could check with Lilja who makes a match grade barrel for the 455. They might be willing to make the new barrel with the muzzle thread you specify. Looks like they export. Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels And yes, the 455's are made to be switch barrel guns...

Gunsmithing What Remington 700 SAs use the .308 bolt face?

+1 on that. You mentioned starting with a short action set up for .223. Aside from the bolt face, you would have to change the feed rails as well. At that point it's really not worth it when one can find an action as common as a R700 with a .473 bolt face.

    Gunsmithing New Grizzly G0670 Lathe

    Gunsmithing The elusive FFL

Been doing my own hobby gunsmithing for awhile and finally getting to where it's time to get the manufactures FFL. What has been the process / experience of others here who have done so? Is it really as bad as some of the stories I've heard. Did you get a visit from BATF? The paperwork...

    Mcmillan coyote camo?

Re: Mcmillan coyote camo? Often times you can e-mail them a picture of a similar stock (to what you want) which you find here or on the net. Then they will do their best to match it. Worked out for me the last time.

CZ 452 varmint CZ 453 Varmint

Anyone know the difference between these two? I checked out the CZ site and really couldn't see one. There must be something because I priced the 452 out at $400 and the 453 at $500.
