    What is the difference between a Remington 700 Long Action receiver and a 700 Long Action Magnum Receiver? Is the difference in the bolt, the receiver, or both? If I want to build a 30-06 long range rifle that I may someday convert to a 300 Win Mag, which action is better?

    What is a good scope for Anschütz Model 1710 D KL?

    I have a Anschütz Model 1710 D KL with a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20X40mm scope with a dot reticle. I'm thinking of moving that to a 260 Rem precision rifle. What would be an alternative scope for the Anschütz (or any .22LR precision rifle)? I'm open to even a vintage scope.

    Question on Savage Barrel Swap

    Thanks for the info. I'm trying to learn before I buy. I'm used to shooting milsurp guns in 30-06 and 8mm Mauser. This is a different world. I do shoot a 6.5x54 Mannlicher-Shöenauer, but that is a Model 1903 carbine with an 18" barrel.

    So the Model 12 Long Range Precision (sku 19136) in .260 Rem or 6.5 Creedmoor is a "stiffer" action. Is it stiffer because it is a large shank? Also both rifles have the Accutrigger. How is the lrp a better trigger. Thanks! PS: Is the Savage 12 VLP DBM in 300WSM a large or small shank?

    I've been looking at a rifle that I can use to work up to long range. I like the Savage 12 VLP DBM in .308 with a 26" barrel. At some point, I could imagine converting it to 300WSM. If I understand it correctly, all I would need to do is get a barrel in 300WSM and then swap out the 0.470" bolt...

    Looks like a new muzzle crown is in the future of this rifle. It is a prewar Steyr Mannlicher-Schoenauer Model 1903 carbine in 6.5x54 MS.
