Re: Best long distance rifle? A true hunting gun should be of a caliber that you can walk in to any sporting goods store and buy ammunition. That way when you drive 2 days to get to the hunt just to find the ammo you packed didn't make it in the truck the whole hunt isn't ruined. I actually...- cwcintexas
