    Calfee's book is worth reading. Lots of information. Looking at what the best shooters are using on BenchrestCentral.com is also worth the time. I shoot 50 yards benchrest iron sight matches, so a long barrel is the norm in that game.

    Quietest (least loud) 100-115 yard gun/ammo that isn't suppressed? Shotgun and AR15 are too loud for my yard (7 acres, neighbors aren't that close).

    I suggest a .38/.357 single shot rifle with .38 Special frangible bullets. The velocity is subsonic and the bullet will break up on the ground, making it as safe as can be for your uses. If you can find one of these rifles with a 26" barrel, it will be pretty quiet. I am thinking a gunsmith...

    New house, no reloading room

    I think in the long run, you get more enjoyment and use in putting heat in the shed and using that. Setting up in the house, then tearing it down over and over gets old real fast. Best of luck with it. David
