    Thanks for the info. I'm using Starline grendel brass necked down. I have a bunch of RL16, just thought it would be to bulky. Guess I'll give it a go as well.

    I agree with you, I just started playing with IMR 4451 and seeing over 2900 fps in a 24in barrel with the 88 ELDM. May be able to get closer to 3000... Mine is not the improved version either.

    32.9 grains of IMR 4451 for 2825 fps. 26 in 7.5 twist Hawk Hill. Shoots bug holes out of mine.

    I'm running a home built .224 Grendel. 24 in Tactical Cannon barrel suppressed. Running Starline brass, BR4, 31.1 gr 6.5 Staball and 88 gr ELDM for 2900 fps. Shoots amazing but runs a bit dirty. Have killed coyotes at 700 yards several times. It's a great little round for sure

    But your right, the fire forming and die cost are a definite down side to the Sherman Max. Guess the fire forming would be a good break in period for a new barrel.
