Time for a thread necromancy. Midway sent out a notice that they had Amax 162s. about 10 minutes later I couldn't even get an order placed because every time I hit "review order" the total available went down (started at 5 boxes). What a screwed up website. Really wish they would simply allow...
Where are people finding anything of value to shoot out of them? Cannot find Amax 162s, cannot find Berger 180s, cannot find decent powder, nor decent match primers... :(
Yeah, no way in hell I would advise .223 for deer, unless you are hunting those tiny key deer down in FLA. Where do you live? Will matter hunting regulation-wise when determining what you can use.
I don't have the 6-24x50, but I have a lower power classic extreme on my AR and it is built like a tank, clear and does what it was meant to do. No complaints whatsoever. (note: some think they may be a bit heavy, but I've never felt that an issue)
Rather take that $200, get an Otis kit and spend the rest on ammo. I imagine you don't pack your full-length cleaning rod into the field with you, and if you do what issue would there be having a hex key along with it? But again, had I the patience and desire to toss money into a product with no...
