We shoot 3/8 steel with rifles inside 100 yds all the time. If they are angled down to deflect the bullet or are able to move to absorb the impact they don't dimple. We have shot steel core 5.45 and 5.56 as well as 55gr 5.56 at 50 yards with no problems. YMMV
I have experienced the same problems as Southbreeze. I the end I moved it to the bottom rail. Don't get me wrong, this is not where I wanted it but it is where it works best for me.
I went back and forth on a t4a and a t2a. In the end I settled on the T4a because of the longer, fatter grip. I like the slanted buttstock of the T2 but the hook does not bother me.

The most common problem with magnifiers is the limited eye relief. I have a vortex in an ADM mount that has worked well for years. The MI buis is probably going to be a problem as they tend to be too tall to allow the magnifier to clear when flipped into position. The mbus and troy buis...
