    Walking Varmint

Re: Walking Varmint Here is my version of a "walking varmint" rifle built a couple years ago by Gordy Gritters. Remington 700 SA .223 with 22" #3 Lilja in a MCM Hunters Edge stock. Weighs in at just under 8 lbs with the Talley steel rings. Easy .5 MOA gun but the only downfall is 1-12" twist.

    R700 Bolt Question

Re: R700 Bolt Question I found on mine that the visible scratches the length of the case is caused by the sharp edge on the action above the follower. If you put the cartridge into the mag, as you push it into the chamber you will notice the line on the case. I don't know if that area can...

    5r trigger question

Re: 5r trigger question I have a new 5-R in .223 with the X-Pro NON-externally adjustable trigger. It can be adjusted pretty easily with 1 allen screw in the front of the trigger assembly. I got mine down to a crisp 3.5 lb pull and quit as I don't need it any lower than that for now.

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mark 4 Questions

Help me to understand. The price difference between the Leupold Mark 4 fixed power 10x and the Mark 4 variable 3.5 to 10x is about $350 with the fixed power scope costing more. Shouldn't the variable cost more? I want to go with a 10x scope and am curious what more you are getting for the...

    Remington 700 5-R 223 Trigger Question

I have one of Remington 700 223 5-R rifles that were made this year and it has the older non-externally adjustable X-Mark Pro triggers. Does anyone know if all of the 223's were made this way or just the early part of the production run? Thanks.

    700P vs SPS

I want to get started in long range shooting and am wondering if there is any significant difference between the quality of the barreled actions of the 700P and the SPS. I plan on replacing the stock on the gun regardless of which one I get. Thanks for any advice.

Rifle Scopes Need Help Identifying An Odd Looking Scope Mount

Re: Need Help Identifying An Odd Looking Scope Mount Thanks Doc. I contacted John and he knew right away what it is. It is the mounting bar used to hold an infrared sniper scope on a M1 or M2 Carbine. He also told me to say "hi" to you also. Thanks again for you help.

    Anyone have a Remington 5R .223?

Re: Anyone have a Remington 5R .223? Yes, I have one. Got it off of Gunbroker when they first were available. The guy I got it from was selling them for $840 shipped and I couldn't pass it up. Fit and finish is great. I don't really care for the stock. I don't like palm swells. Trigger...

Pre-64 Win 70 Action In McMillan HTG Stock

Does anyone know if the pre-64 Win Model 70 action will fit and could be ordered in the McMillan HTG stock? I'm curious if anyone has done it. I'm looking to build a rifle based on an action that I have. I would use a barrel contour similar to the Rem varmint contour. Any other suggestions...

    Blackening Stainless Steel

I am in the process of getting one of the new Rem 700 .223 5-R guns. I see that Robar has a finish for stainless steel where they blacken it. Does anyone have any experience with this finish as far as durability goes? Thanks.

    SBR's... minor question

Re: SBR's... minor question I bought my Colt 6933 as a factory manufactured SBR and they come with a 11.5" barrel. My Class 10 dealer, who I got it from, assured me that an SBR is an SBR and that any length barrel can be used. Just adding another opinion.

How to get paperwork started for a SBR AR-15.

Re: How to get paperwork started for a SBR AR-15. I just got a new Colt 6933 and the whole process took close to 4 months. I had a little problem with my Chief of Police as he didn't understand that a less than 16" barrel COULD be legal by going through the proper process. Converting an...
