I’m very interested in this thread. I’ve been wanting to put together a small caliber bolt gun. I was leaning towards a 223 since I already have the reloading equipment until I saw the videos on Lowlights 224V. The caliber seems to be what I am looking for. Cheap to shoot, easy access to brass...
1 MOA accuracy would be fine for my needs. I think the RPR gets a bad rap because people think a $400 rifle should shoot 1 hole groups. Mine is a decent shooter but does have the flyer issue. I would be very happy with the rifle if I could solve that issue. But I haven’t tried a variety of...
Thanks man. Looks like it’s shooting good. What you said about the adjustability is the reason I bought the RPR so my son can learn to shoot. I also marked my settings so I can adjust them quickly. The gun is just a little to heavy for my son with the factory barrel. He’s already asking when...
I picked up a Tactical Performance double case at Academy on Black Friday for $30. The case holds my 20” bolt gun and an AR with no issues. It has some good size pockets on the outside to carry mags and stuff. It also has stowable back pack straps which is nice if you carry other bags. My use is...
Be careful of adding to many options to your list. I did this and it took me forever to make a decision. I would watch for the new scopes being dropped at SHOT or NRA then wait for the to be reviewed here. That just turns into waiting forever and not shooting. Go check some of these options out...
I bought the 3-12 LRTS and the Steiner P4Xi 4-16 from Cameraland this year. Both are very good scopes for your price range. I run the LRTS on my SPRish build and the Steiner on my 700. I’ve only shot both out to 300 but I’m completely satisfied with both scopes. If I were in your shoes I would...
The Steiner to me looks like a better hunting/tactical scope. I’m not opposed to the G3 but I don’t mind spinning the turret either. Is the DMR II really worth 2x the price of the Steiner?
I’m in the same boat. 800-1000 to spend and I’m seriously considering the PX4i from what I’ve read about it. Dark Lord of Optics has a good write up on the PX4i on his site. Where is the DMR II made? I want something made in Japan, Germany, or the US.
I guess these are the behind the curtain scopes Frank mentioned in the podcast a few months ago! Will they be officially announced at the NRA show in a few weeks? I’m very interested. Been doing doing a lot of research lately on the <2k scope price point. These look like an excellent option.
The 16 incher looks much better IMO. It’ll be interesting to see if taking a bunch of weight off the front of the rifle makes the polymer chassis less pressure sensitive. It certainly couldn’t hurt the balance for shooting offhand
