Don't use it as a crutch. KNOW your home range data and your grasp of drop and gravity's effect on your round will begin to expand, allowing you to spend more time in sight picture and less time staring at your kestrel. And 4dof needs truing, make sure you nail that down before you begin to...
50-yard zero. Make it Precise and accurate 70-yard data __?__ x 2.28 = 90-yard data. 90-yard data ___x 1.625 = 110-yard data 110-yard data ___x1.42 = 130-yard data 130-yard data ___x1.29 = 150-yard data 150-yard data ___x1.25 = 170-yard data 170-yard data ___x1.20 = 190-yard data 190-yard data...
The reason I have not codified the multipliers for .22 LR is because a zero range is not universally accepted as it is with the 100-yard zero in centerfire. Some use 20. Some 25. Some 50 yard zeros. Changing the zero range affects the multipliers because it affects the data slightly.
Yes. First step is to be comfortable with and be able to recite your home-range data instinctively. That leads to understanding your drop between data points, which makes odd-range data more intuitive and not solver-necessary. Yes, easily derived. 20-yard zero, then data every 20 yards to...
In the process you describe above, you have theory everywhere but 100, 500 and 1000. If you start at 100 with Gravity Ballistics, you will have data at even yardlines all the way to 1000 based on hits, not theory and you will not need to manipulate your wrong M/V or BC because Gravity...
Precision is the wringing out of fundamentals, low standard deviation ammo and barrel harmonics. Seeking consistency in all aspects. Precision relies on consistency. Accuracy at the point of aim is a mechanical function and relies on your scope's ability to deliver precise movement of the...
In reference to your photos - The only relevant number on the back of a box of ammo is the lot number. Everything else is irrelevant to you and your rifle as a starting place to gather data. Your actual data / drop will reveal your true M/V out to 600. That is, if you know how to true a...
If you have been working "diligently" on fundamentals, you have markedly decreased your chances of making a fool of yourself. It would be foolish to proceed on this journey without addressing the fundamentals. Taylor
I was a unicorn herder at Stone Bay in '88-'89. Our General Officer Corps is the result of a decade ramp-up for D.E.I. structuring and is the weakest lineup since the Union Army in the War Between the States.
This is a system that takes a submission from a guy with a retired T. S. Clearance and passes him off to the FBI for harder scrutiny instead of approving his submission. Good luck, and yes, you will need some.
