    Neck tension is the "grip" the neck of the case has on the bullet. When the case is driven into the sizing die that is where a couple things can happen depending on the die set you use. A full length sizer die (FL) if set properly will bump the shoulder of a bottle neck rifle case back...

    Some seating dies can be setup for a crimp. That said.... No one I know uses it or crimps their rounds unless perhaps they are going into a semi automatic or a magnum heavy recoil gun. Most people concentrate on achieving .001-.002 neck tension which is more than enough for 99% of all situations.
