    45/70 Reduced Loads

My rifles like the 405gr Meister over 10.5gr of Unique for a plinking load. The Sharps does its best work with a 535gr Postell, though. Not a boolit I'd try in the magazine guns.

Anneal 308 brass for gas gun?

I annealed my milsurp brass before uniforming the primer pockets, then just loaded milspec duplicate loads w/150gr FMJ to feed three gas guns. Most brass is approaching ten reloads via RCBS X dies, and no signs of problems yet.

what kind of chronograph are you all using?

The only thing I don't like about my Magneto V2 is that I can't use it on my gas guns or lever guns. It requires a single tube to clamp to. So the Oehler gets used for those guns, but set up is a PITA compared to the V2.

    Ideal .50BMG setup

I've been fairly happy with the Lee kit. You might also look at this press if you want more capacity. As for trimming, I use a Wilson (w/power adapter) that also has a great primer pocket cutting tool for removing crimps. +1k on the Imperial wax. It works better than anything else for sizing...

    Decrimping Disaster

Re: Decrimping Disaster I like the Wilson tool. It replaces the cutter head in their case trimmer and leaves a nice smoothly curved edge on the pocket. It's fast and easy if you use the power drive adapter.

    Die Question

Re: Die Question I'm old school on this subject. A standard Forster two die set gives me a tiny bit less than 1 MOA in my early seventies ADL with SMKs. The muleys on the receiving end never took a step after the impact.

Ammo Inventory software update and ??s

Re: Ammo Inventory software update and ??s This is looking good. I might have missed it, but a field for source (vendor) is one I use in my current Palm ThinkDB.

Can I skip some case prep for pistol brass?

Re: Can I skip some case prep for pistol brass? Only chamfer if you just trimmed, and that is kinda optional on most pistol brass. Some of my pistol ammo meets a Lyman M expander before seating a boolit. Most of it sees a LFCD set to squeeze just enough to ensure proper functioning in the...

    Hand Gun reloading

Re: Hand Gun reloading I use a Lee FCD to iron out the case mouth belling in cast loads. I switched to a Hornady AP after the 550 munched too many precious 25-20WCF brass. Yes, I have both a pistol and rifle in that caliber. The trick with the FCD is not to go too far, or that puppy <span...

    Powder measure?

Re: Powder measure? Do it old school and you won't have to worry about fluctuations due to induced a.c. or other electrical problems. That means a decent (not great) powder measure, a good balance beam scale, and a powder trickler (this can be electric). I only use my electronic scale to...

    Silver solder sight base?

Re: Silver solder sight base? I've had good luck with epoxy on scope bases and such. Generally, the more suitable epoxies have the longest full cure time. Five minute epoxy is not your friend here. For the best bond, both surfaces must be rough (non-polished) and absolutely clean and...

    Question for the Reloading Gods

Re: Question for the Reloading Gods I always prepped new cases, ream/neck turn, and shoot full power loads for wildcats. YMMV, but that's this lazy man's way to avoid extra steps whenever possible.

Hornady LnL powder measure & Varget

Re: Hornady LnL powder measure & Varget All the components that come into contact with the powder have to be clean and DRY. Hornady One Shot says it is a dry lube, but no go for the powder measure. I cleaned again and went with the Remington dry lube spray, and no issues so far. Wayne

    Reloading 50 BMG

Re: Reloading 50 BMG Most of my fifty reloading gets done on my Lee press. The RCBS dies sized less than the Lee dies do. This was a no-go for my bolt gun. The only things against my Lee is that it doesn't like to deal with major force, like resizing some M2 brass. I got a Walnut Hill...

Ruger introduces the BX-25, THE FACTORY 10/22 HIGH

Re: Ruger introduces the BX-25, THE FACTORY 10/22 HIGH I just got a confirmation. Brown is delivering them Tuesday. Hot damn!
