For those who don't reload but want the best performance. I had a situation about two years ago..... Built a 338winmag for a guy......had to rent a reamer (saami spec). Customer was dead set on Barnes ammo, he sent in a box. Shot terrible 1.5-2" if I remember correctly. I ended up buying dies...
To answer your question directly. When a customer reloads and still gets bad results the rifle comes back to me for full inspection, accuracy testing, and full warranty re-barrel if needed. But if a customer says.......I bought tons of remington core-lokts (or any other factory ammo) and the...
Hahaha......after they get out of the hospital and pick up the pieces my insurance agent can show them the QC sheet and factory ammo test fire casing logged with their order. Other than that, I guess we are both shit outta luck.....
Absolutely, so I try my best to work with that. The best solution I have found is to get the customer to try a few basic trouble shooting things. Swap ammo, swap scope, swap shooter. Other than that.....send it back for full inspection and accuracy test (possible handloading). If it passes and...
Given that M24s are 1moa rifles/118lr at best.......and its common that "off the shelf" 308win rifles shoot 1moa ish......you may be disappointed in your wishes.
Indeed, in a perfect world, the chosen handloader would know what he is doing and the ammo maker would put out an excellent and consistent product. Along those lines the rifle builder and parts suppliers would be perfect too......thus problem avoided. Until then, I will stick to custom...
Or the oldschool design Sierra Matchkings. They may not be the highest BC nowadays but man they sure are "set it and forget it"......very forgiving. Ern
I would like to share my experience, from the builder side......I'll try not to MF companies/customers too much.......haha. Lately I have been battling 7prc accuracy issues. Customer bought Hornady "Match" ammo...... shot like dick......like 2"......lots of two close together than one out. I...
I once fired a few 260rem down a 308 AR10. Funny thing, I cursed the piece of shit AR for not cycling good reloaded ammo......so I hand cycled a few more......then I realized I was a dumbassand grabbed the wrong rifle/ammo combo. One of the joys of building the same rifle configuration in...
My SHTF (more like truck gun) setup is a A2 carry handle held on by nylock nuts then jam nutted. You absolutely need a cresent wrench to get that bastard off. Then a regular A2 post up front. Its always ON, doesn't need re-zero after a bump, doesn't need cleaned or treated any different than...
So YOU are the guy rifle builders owe a swift kick in the nuts for leading newb shooters on about velocity expectations. If I only had a dollar for everytime I heard, "the rifle shoots great, just doesn't get the velocity I expected." Ern
Hornady doesn't make dogshit......but.......their consistency from lot to lot seems terrible as of late. I have firsthand experience Hornady factory 7prc causing issues.......I mean like +60/-60fps ES over 25 shots. And it wasn't just a single extreme outlier each way......it was all over the...
