    If you already own a 308 and a 308 based 6,5 like Creedmore or 260 rem, then there is absolutely no logical reason to get the same cartridge with a 7mm bullet. 7mm08 is a magnificent caliber but it will not go longer or be more precise than what you already own.     That's really interesting! I do not believe the 7mm rem mag has a rumor of being super accurate and that could scare me off to go with something with a better track record.

    I have just taken a closer look at 7mm Practical and 7mm-300wm and they really look interesting. 300WM brass is widely available here also.

    I'm absolutely set on 7mm. There is not enough energy left in 6,5mm at those extreme distances and .30 is a bit borring in my head. But the bullet could also be the Hornady ELD 180gr with extreme high BC! Just now i realize it is significantly better than 180 Scenar L.. But something 180gr'ish 7mm.

    I can get 34mm Warne rings fairly cheap, so that is not the biggest issue in case of 34mm tube. I will be shooting Benchrest 100-1000m Deer hunting ~200m Danish Hunting style field comp (unknown target sizes at unknown distances, moving and static targets, different shooting positions etc...

    I haven't considered it because 1700 is too much. 1500 is also a bit too much, but that might be possible if the 1500 euro scope was the obvious right choice.

    Correct, SWFA is not an option. However, being used to sfp scopes the trijicon reticle doesnt seem that thick?
