Quick update: Me and my son both hit the mile target at Thunder Valley on Sunday for the first time. 22.5 mils elevation, .7 mils spin drift, .2 elev and .2 left for coriolis. Speed was a little off but my son hit it within a few rounds. We had the turret maxed out and holding 4 mils over on...
Honestly, the area that we're talking about cutting is so far behind the part of the receiver that immediately supports the lugs and the barrel tenon that I don't see how you can even consider them related. There is also a huge cutout here for the magazine already and nothing (that I can see) to...
I was also told by Shilen that, even though the overall area of 4 lands is less than 6, the 4 lands are a bit "beefier" and might last a little longer. Might. The ratchet plays a role in this as well. It's less friction between the bullet and the land because of the "smoother" engagement. The...

Agree 100%. I run a custom Remington action that is cut for Savage-threaded barrels and I love it. Cheap but good barrels and easy headspacing with no machining necessary. Fast caliber swaps too. You can buy Shilen and Criterion barrels for most popular calibers from Northland Shooters Supply...
This may sound kinda janky to the machinists present but I also had issues finding someone to inlet my B&C for the PTG Stealth DBM. Not being one who likes to rely on others, I bought a cheap X/Y table for my drill press and a couple of different endmills and did it myself. I traced the bottom...
