I’ll begin by saying my knowledge on this stuff is pretty basic but I had an idea and figured you might be able to tell me if this is possible. I know that in tempering steel some use the loss of magnetic properties as a sign of reaching the right temperature. I also know that as metals reach a...
I have some Ares and Cronus Athlon scopes/binos now and they’re great which is why I figured it would be worth a look. I’m mostly interested in specifics on the 1-8x btr gen2 version only. Things like holding zero, how the reticle is etc. I’ve seen the diagrams but I’d like to know if it’s too...
The Burris and Vortex options are still a possibility but I’m interested how the Athlon compares. I already have a Bushnell 1-4x, which is mediocre, and I like the idea of 1-8x so it’s pretty much down to the Vortex or Athlon.
I’m in the market for a low cost lpvo and found the Athlon Argos BTR gen2 1-8x24. For an optic with these specs in the $300 range it seems pretty good but wouldn’t mind getting some feedback from anyone who has one. Thoughts?

I definitely would have preferred ffp. The vortex fb post has a lot of people saying the same and vortex has acknowledged this. Hopefully it’s brought enough attention they consider an ffp version as the rep has stated it’s not part of the current plan. Guess it’s a wait and see scenario.
Re: Quality Question Just a note on the ultrasonic cleaners. I was pretty skeptical but they actually do a really good job cleaning up the cases. Be sure to use a little soap though. Plain water doesn't quite do it.
Re: Scope Options for Barrett 98B at 1000 yards If you like the FFP option, Nightforce now has their NXS F1... not quite the magnification but still a good choice.
Re: Cheekweld without the punch in the face? Don't forget, you can raise and lower the pad on that stock to help with fit. Just remove the two allen screws holding the pad on, then loosen the slider and position to comfort, tighten it all up, put the pad back on and you're back in business.
