F/L Sizing Reveal a Bad Chamber Job?

Is the line visible on once fired brass?

F/L Sizing Reveal a Bad Chamber Job?

I don't think the chamber is waller'd out given the measurements he gave in his post. His measurements are only showing 25 ten thousanths reduction after sizing above the base and that doesn't seem extraordinary.

F/L Sizing Reveal a Bad Chamber Job?

I think I would thoroughly clean my FL die with solvent then polish the die with some JB Bore compound. A patch wrapped around a pistol bore brush chucked into a drill works pretty well for this. Clean the die really well after doing this to get all the JB out. Then I'd try sizing again...

    MagnetoSpeed V3 Accuracy Rating

I'm guessing you're saying that it may have 99% repeatability but not 99% velocity accuracy. I'm curious as to the basis of your assertion.

    Case life- neck sizing

I wouldn't push it either, if they're starting to feel loose, I toss 'em. It sounds like you have a reasonable load and jump so it's a mystery to me as well. I guess I'd be mic'ing case heads, it's a good practice to do anyway. It's always possible that you have a bad lot of brass. Is the...

    Case life- neck sizing

Maybe your pressures are running too high? 47.6 gr. of 2000mr behind what bullet? Is your bullet seated out to the lands? Lots of things can affect pressures, but if you're losing primers at 4 loads, you just might have a pressure issue. Have you mic'd your case head expansion?

    MagnetoSpeed V3 Accuracy Rating

Recheck your setup of the unit paying particular attention to the alignment and gap of the sensor to your bore. Correct shim selection is important. Ensure the strap is tightened good and snug. I have every reason to believe my MagnetoSpeed gives me better than 99% accuracy and most users...

    MagnetoSpeed V3 Accuracy Rating

The Magnetospeed is considerably better than 15% and their testing showed it to be 99.9% accurate when compared against high-speed video. I've been using one for about a year and can say without a doubt, this is one reliable chronograph.

    ax338 OCW test DILEMMA

You might try letting those 300 gr. Bergers jump a bit more. Try some loads .040" from the lands and see what happens...

    Case life- neck sizing

Case neck life is affected by sizing. If you're using lower end dies (neck or FL sizing) which have a combo decapper/expander ball, this will negatively affect the life of your case necks due to excessive working of the brass. They work by sizing the neck down more than necessary then expand...

    Carbon Solvent question

I've been pretty vigilant about keeping carbon buildup down. I once saw a guys rifle ( 30-378) which fired the bullet and case neck down the barrel. My theory on what happened was that there was sufficient carbon buildup in the chamber neck area to prevent expansion of the case neck upon...

    Carbon Solvent question

I use Ed's Red bore cleaner, the modified version. Equal parts Dexron tranny fluid, xylene and MEK. Be careful to keep if off your stock, remove stock or put gun inverted, muzzle angling down, into your favorite holder and wear gloves and safety glasses. Seems to work well for dissolving...

    Annealing before or after sizing?

You should anneal before sizing. Work hardened brass "springs" back more after the expander ball opens up the neck. Annealing before sizing help ensure more consistent neck tension.
