Best all round .308 barrel length?

I run 26" right now , with the proviso , that I can always cut it later on . As I learn the magic number for re-loading what "she" likes . Instead of the old : Crap ! I cut it three times , and it's still to short .

    Are Timney triggers worth it?

Didn't even consider anything but a Timney when I built my 43 Izzy M-N / Archangel. Rode over to the factory about three miles away and picked it up . They reset it from 3 1/2 lbs , down to 2lbs while I waited . About fives minutes . It "breaks" same way every time . Love it .

Reasons for you taking bolt-action over semi-auto?

Bolt gun . And for those that understand ....No explanation is necessary . For those who don't ? No explanation will suffice . And my own personal opinion is that if you are 800 mtrs. out , and can't run a bolt to re-load , then maybe your "hide" isn't as good as you thought . Gas does have...

    Russian SV-98

I agree with those who think the Dragonov is the most beautiful rifle ever created , and to those who think the Russians make "Ugly stuff" , I'll bet you'd think it's even uglier ......from the wrong end , lookin . Like the line from the old rock & roll record . "Yeah , she ugly . But she sure...

HELP: Why is factory ammo loaded longer than my mags?

It was explained to me on another "Site" that there are no actual "set" standards for OAL from manufacturer to manufacturer , and I would be more concerned about case length . If case length is good , you can press them down to fit your mag , or single-feed them . Since I'm a M-N shooter ...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

Sorry Slick . Can't let this go without a response. Your bias to modern "tech" is only exceeded by your arrogance of trying to compare a .30 cal 123/4 grn round with a muzzle velocity of around 2300 fps. to a B.B. at 4,200 fps... Really ? I notice you didn't respond to my comment regarding...

James Yeager on Mosin Nagant PU (Language Warning!)

I've watched plenty of good young shooters with their big-buck rigs , punchin out fantastic groups on a piece of paper , but those same fine outstanding young marksmen get that deer in the head-lights look when they "think" they have a "real" human target down range. Used to call it "Buck Fever"...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Why you DON'T like Glock.

Started shooting a pistol at age 11 . A Ray Shockey custom 1911 owned by my Father for NRA Target comp. My Instructor / Father won ive Natl. Championships and was a Grand Master. He sent me a Ps9 H&K to carry in Nam , and I've used Berretas , also . But when it comes to the defense of my...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

Apologies to anyone who mis-understood my comment as I was speaking from my own in-country experience . I received a 5.56 round , delivered by a member of the Peoples Forces (V.C.) from a American made M-16 , A-1 E model at approx. 530 meters . The round went through two layers of camo jungle...

Forgive me in advance for being potentially offensive in my ignorance...

One of the main points of relevance to this discussion that has "Not" been discussed openly is the original question ? "Are all the bells and whistles necessary" ? Those on both sides of the debate have offered positions to justify their thinking , and most of the points were valid in...

James Yeager on Mosin Nagant PU (Language Warning!)

What a "Maroon" ! I absolutely love it when people underestimate the capabilities of both my "antique", (not really) and the old grey-haired guy takin it out of the case . Wonder if Mr. Super-expert would like to be on the "receivin" end of my Non-sniper at about 7-800 mtrs. Maybe it would...
