    Compatability Issues

Correct. The Bravo does not have separate bottom metal. I will try opening the feed lips and live with the washer solution. I have adjusted the mag catch on other builds. With a hunting rifle, a loose mag is a problem. The washer may be the better solution.

    Compatability Issues

My experience is that parts from different suppliers usually work well together. Not this week. Origin .223 action in KRG Bravo chassis with a MDT magazine. Bolt overrides the round in the magazine. The bottom metal is not the one with the barricade stop with the adjustable mag catch release...

Bottom Metal for Coup de Grace Build

The adjustable mag latch is the answer, but it's only available on the MDT bottom metal with the barricade stop, not the hunter. I tried 10, 5, and 3-round magazines. The three-round, plastic MDT mag was the best, but the bolt dragged on them all. Off to try Hawkins.

Curiosity Test.. Brake VS No Brake and Expander VS No Expander

Your sample size is too small. Any of those will do for my purposes.

    6.5 Creedmoor Impact Precision Pre-fit? & Wrench?

You cannot do better than an impact precision barrel, so I second the Stuteville suggestion. You're on the right track. You can achieve almost the same weight with steel as with carbon, but that results in a pencil barrel. Not really a good fit for shooting from a bench. So I run carbon at 26...

Hawkins DBM / MDT Mag Fitment

The above is the correct answer, but you should check with Hawkins to see if they offer a shorter mag catch release. MDT and KRG both sent me the part I needed just for asking. Both were short actions. I too don't know if the same applies to long actions.

    Proof steel Competition Contour prefits

You are right. It doesn't, but that's not a problem for my use. The bipod distributes the weight evenly.

    Barrel Vise

    Should work fine. Good luck.

    Barrel Vise

My Viper works fine with large-diameter barrels. I only use that large a barrel in smaller calibers, however, which are torqued to 75 to 90 foot pounds. I'm unsure how it would work with over 100 foot-pounds of force for a magnum caliber. A toilet paper roll between the vice and the barrel helps.

Struggling to understand the mistery with this rifle

Also do you have any answer to my questions in your experience? 1. A less-than-ideal improvised shooting position will produce a less-than-ideal group size. 2. What are you trying to achieve? The kill zone on an elk is 12 inches. If you can't shoot 2 MOA from an improvised position, keep...

Struggling to understand the mistery with this rifle

If you want to learn to shoot from improvised positions, practice shooting from improvised positions. Get off the bench. There is seldom an instant fix, which is what you are seeking. Shooting off a pack is a good option in less than ideal positions. Sounds like you would benefit from a...

Something apparently unexplainable happening with my custom hunting rifle

What affects the bullet is gravity. Gravity works over the horizontal distance. When shooting up or downhill, the line of sight distance is not the same as the horizontal distance. Some range finders take this into account. This may not be your problem, but it's always something to consider in...

    Crushing .223 Cases

Fixed it. The bullet is .2235. Mitoyu calipers work for most things. Bingo! I removed the micrometer seating stem, and the case still came up hard in the same place. It was the seating die that was crushing the case, not the seating stem. The die had to be backed out almost its full length...

    Crushing .223 Cases

I haven't had this problem before. Lake City 223 cases were prepped as usual, sized with a Hornady sizing die, and an expander ball. They may not have been annealed. Nosler Custom Competition 77-grain bullets are not seating using a Hornady seating die. Comes up hard once past the boat tail...

    Triggertech Special 2 Stage Question

Since no one is replying, let me see if I can help. The fundamentals of marksmanship are muzzle management and trigger finger discipline. Put the muzzle on the target, press the trigger in a manner that does not move the muzzle, and you will hit the target. That's why most benchrest shooters...
