My issue was that I tried something new and the barrel ended up being a lemon, so second time around I went with tried and tested from a known name. Maybe the next one I'll try new again, I keep seeing TBOX barrels being brought up here and there. I wouldn't mind trying another NC company.
Well to update my thread..... The faxon barrel did well after breaking it in, I was only able to zero it at 100 yds for one range trip and confirm the zero during my next trip. I was planning on getting to the 800 yd range in a couple weeks but my barrel started rusting really bad on the...
Most of my builds use higher end parts like BCM, Knights and Noveske. Holding a Knights or BCM stripped lower and holding the BCA lower you could see and feel a lack of quality, but everything fit correctly and it functions and fires great. With the exception of the BCA barrel and stripped...
I'm not sure if they do it every year or not, and not enough people knew about it because they didn't end up given away all 5000. I heard about it on the 65 Grendel forum, they only had two choices to pic from. Both were 223 wylde, I requested the SS version. After I received the barrel I...

I read a lot of complaints on the BCA 6.5 Grendel barrels not being very accurate. I have one of their 223 wylde barrels that I received for free on Veterans day (BCA gave away 5000 barrels to Vets)and it shoots better than I thought it would. It's sounding like your trying more for budget than...
I just built a 20" 6.5 grendel with a faxon barrel, I've only shot it once so far but it was less than impressive. I'm hoping it just needs a few more rounds to break the barrel in, I only have about 80 rds of Horandy black 123 gr so far and just picked up another 60 today. I plan to go out this...
Sorry this is my first 6.5 Grendel, all I've been able to do so far is adjust the gas block and break in the barrel. I went Mon and our range doesn't open again until Tomorrow, it was so windy Mon my target wouldn't stop moving so I just did a hasty zero with my scope and then called it a day...
I just bought a Gen II viper PST, bought it and had it three days later. Very nice optic, I think it was $1100 with my military discount. IMG_9042 by hd_rolling, on Flickr oogf by hd_rolling, on Flickr
Thanks again for all the welcomes, still haven't had a chance to get my Grendel to the range but Mon is what I'm hoping for. oogf by hd_rolling, on Flickr IMG_9037 by hd_rolling, on Flickr IMG_9041 by hd_rolling, on Flickr
Well I missed the range Mon because the wife wanted my to smoke a brisket, and now it's not open until tomorrow but I have to go see a bud for the day. I'm shooting for Sun to hit the range. I already made a couple changes to the setup. Added some KAC from and rear BUIS, a KAC trigger guard...
It's pretty nice, it is hard not to spend too much time on the couch. I was 235 lbs when I retired in 2013 and about two months ago I was 267 lbs. I saw that and joined a gym, back down to 255 lbs now. I'm shooting for 240lb and then I'll maintain, hopefully! Congrats on the retirement anyways!
I'm looking into these barrels, still learning. At least their all in the $500-$600 before options. I plan to at least shoot this setup for the winter and spring, I already have over $3800 invested so for now it's going to stay as is.
So I just saw the JP barrels on Brownells, over $600 was a lot more than I expected to see. And if this was at the lower end what are the higher end barrels? Here are the gas block pics, the top I was able to get a good pic of looking down the front but my mount for the bipod was block the...
