    F T/R Competition Powder for .284 Winchester?

I'm about to start load workup for my new Surgeon actioned, 30" barrel .284 Winchester. This is my first experience with that round. I'll be using new Norma brass, CCI BR2 primers and topped with Berger's new 190gr 7mm Target Hybrids. From what I've been told, H4350, H4831SC and RL17 all get...

F T/R Competition Was freaking out for a minute there!!

    45 gr. seems to be a Varget sweet spot. :D I'm shooting 45.0, 45.2 and 45.3 in my 3 pet .308 loads.

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

If you ain't careful you'll develop a nervous twitch and mumble unintelligible jibberish when you go to the loading bench. :p

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

I totally agree. That's the reason I open the box, load 'um and choot 'um. :D

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

You guys have caused me to think about variation in bullet weight and my willingness to just accept what's in the box. So I did a very un-scientific test over coffee this AM by weighing 20 bullets each from what I have on hand. Hornady 178 BTHP Match 177.8 - 178.3 gr. Sierra 175 Match King...

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

No problem. I haven't been doing this long ... only a couple of years. One thing I've learned about reloading is to carefully select the rabbits I want to chase. Otherwise, I'd drive myself crazy. Sorting bullets by weight ain't one of them. I figure Berger, Hornady and Sierra can build a...

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

Usually about 20 pounds depending on the time of year. :o Otherwise I'm not sure if I'm following you. If you're speaking of bullet weight, I have no idea. I open the box, load 'um and choot 'um.

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

You might also consider the Hornady 178 BTHP Match. I'm working up a load right now using that bullet and Varget. I just returned from the range, and 45 gr. of Varget gave me 1/3 MOA vertical at 300 yards. Horizontal was about a MOA .... I'll work on that with seating. Cost of the Hornady's...

    F T/R Competition Remington mil spec 5r

The 5R is an excellent first gun. I've been shooting mine for a couple of years. The only thing I've found frustrating about it is the length of the throat. Mine is .095 longer than the throat on my new comp gun. This made for some frustration in load work ups with bullets like Berger's...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns M&P 5" Slide/Barrel/Striker Assembly

I know they're probably impossible to find right now, but does anyone know who may sell the 5" M&P Slide assembly complete with barrel and striker? No matter if they have it in stock now ... I'd just like to know where I may get one when things calm down. Thanks.

    Kudos to Kestrel

I want to let you guys know about a great recent experience with Nielsen-Kellerman, makers/marketers of Kestrel. I recently bought a used 4500 from a guy not knowing that the white RH cap had broken off. I shipped it off to Kestrel with a letter telling them that I was NOT the original owner...

    new hide

Give it a rest, guys. Look at the metrics on this site ... it's huge, and a total change over of a site this size takes time. I know for a fact that Frank and company have been working on this for a long time in order to make it better and more functional for all of us. Patience, Grasshopper!

Gunsmithing Fitting a Steel Gas Block

Just got my steel PRI .936 gas block. Wouldn't go over the barrel shoulder on the test fit. Calipers revealed that the barrel is actually .941, so I need to remove .005 from the inside of the block. I tried a brake cylinder hone ... all it did was polish it up slicker 'n Owl Poop. Any...
