New to reloading need a starting point for .223

Re: New to reloading need a starting point for .223 Thanks everyone for the suggestions. When I said long range I guess I should have said something more like " shoot as far as I can accurately". I guess everything is relative.

New to reloading need a starting point for .223

Re: New to reloading need a starting point for .223 I don't have a manual yet. I'm getting the Hornady single stage kit as a gift for Christmas and the manual comes with that. I want to reload for long range / precision.

New to reloading need a starting point for .223

I'm just starting to reload and I was wondering if anyone had a good baseline for .223, 26" barrel, 1:12 twist. From using factory ammo I know it likes 55 grain bullets so I was going to use to experiment starting with them. I'm more curious with different types of powder and primers to use.

Gunsmithing Foward retaining pin in rem 700 trigger mech

Re: Foward retaining pin in rem 700 trigger mech yea you guys were right I didn't remove the bolt stop reset. Once I completely removed the rear pin I was able to take the front pin out. But man it was a PITA getting that spring back in.

    PROJECT: SBR BOLT ACTION

Re: NEW PROJECT - Need Some Guidance - SBR Bolt Action You could just buy one 26" barrel blank cut it down to 10". If that doesn't work then use your original scrap and have a 16" barrel which we know does work.

    Shooting at an angle

Re: Shooting at an angle Ok so the distance that you're shooting at is essentially the base of the right triangle. Because the is basically the distance in which gravity is affecting the bullet got it.

    Shooting at an angle

Re: Shooting at an angle The difference in elevation is large enough that it needs to be taken accounted for.

    Shooting at an angle

So I read a few other posts about this subject but I'm still a little confused. When you are shooting down hill at a target how do you account for the angle in the trajectory? Do you adjust your scope so that you are basically shooting the straight line distance?

Cleaning AR-15 parts with an Ultra sonic cleaner?

Can you clean the bolt of an AR-15 with an ultra sonic cleaner? An if I can what should I add to the water?

    First precision rifle!

Re: First precision rifle! I'm on the one year plan. I plan on having my rifle completely set up by next summer and then use next summer to play around with reloading. Also I'll be done with school by then so hopefully I'll have a lot more time.

Re: Using a Lens Filter to Protect your Scope's Lens I was thinking the same exact thing this week. I might spend the 10 or so dollars to try it out.
