    Newbie checking in

Dry firing a CZ 455 is fine. The firing pin stop does not allow the firing pin to contact the chamber. Should be about 10 thou. clearance if memory serves me correctly. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Long distance .22LR - 300 yards 9/1/13

Nice shooting for any age. I've never thought about shooting a 22 that far. Give my congrats to your son. I see you list our location as Middle TN, where is that range relative to Nashville? I live in the Nashville area and am always looking for new places to shoot.

If you have a CZ in a Tacticool please chime in!?

Buy the Tacticool, bed it, pillar it do whatever you want to with it. It's about $110 shipped to your door. If you split the laminate I'd say you are tighting the action screws too tight. I think all the folks that obsess about action screw torque north of 20 in/lbs are trying to find a solution...

Installing a CZ 455 Set Trigger

I agree, I bought the 455 Thumb hole varmint just to get the SST. Have since changed stocks and added a Lilja barrel and Sightron 36x scope. I have to get more trigger time, but so far I love it. I've noticed mine does not want to allow me set the safety in normal trigger position, but it works...

Installing a CZ 455 Set Trigger

I guess that rules out using in the 50 yard "Headstand" competitions :)

    Adjustable objective? Yes..no?

If you are shooting at 50 and 100 you will want a scope with AO. Most non adjustable scopes come from the factory set parallax free at 100 if they are center-fire scopes, rim fire scopes come set at 50 yards. If you are shooting at varying ranges the AO will allow parallax elimination at varying...

    CZ 455 varmint .22mag

The switch from 17HMR to 22LR requires a magazine insert and retaining pin due to the shorter length of the 22LR magazine. Total cost of those parts is $7 - $8. Barrel swap can be accomplished in less than 10 minutes. I'd also recommend a torque screw driver so that you can properly torque the...

    need input on new rifle

I can recommend the CZ 455 Varmint. I bought one with the set trigger, changed to the Boyd's Tacticool stock Boyds: TACT CZ® 455 CLIP FEED BBC LAM STK W/BLK TEXT F TactiCool and a Lilja barrel. I've not shot a Savage or a 40x, but I'm thinking this thing is going to be a shooter. I also...

    CZ 455 varmint .22mag

It's all a matter of opinion, but most that have shot or own both say they are both equally capable. Most folks will also say that the CZ feels more like a full size rifle and that the fit an finish is better.

    CZ 455 varmint .22mag

Yes you can, a 455 receiver will accept 22LR, 22WMR or 17HMR and I believe 17 HM2. You do need a separate magazine for the 22WMR that also takes 17 HMR. You can buy combo packages that come with more than one barrel. The varmints are a hoot, they feel like full size rifles, not a rim fire - due...

Picked up a sexy new rifle!

Re: Picked up a sexy new rifle! Beautiful, I bet it will shoot with the best of them. I'd look at the Vortex hard. I've got a Viper PST on the 308, thinking about a Diamondback for the CZ Varmint 17HMR I ordered today.

    CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR

Re: CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR Well Predator, You put up a convincing argument; so I just ordered the 455 Varmint 17 HMR. Like an idiot I forgot to order ammo, I've not paid attention to the local shops. Do most stock this caliber? I'm think of the Vortex Diamondback in 4-12x40 AO with...

    CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR

Re: CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR TOP PREDATOR, Excellent response, very informative and just the kind of information I was looking for to help me make a decision. It looks like the 455 is a bit cheaper - and more readily available of course that the 453. I could see getting the 455 and...

    CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR

Re: CZ 453 or 455 Varmint 17 HMR longguntoter, Thanks for the reply. I did a little more research - I think the 453 is what I'm going for.
