    Holographic sight question

Just put the dot on the target, no matter what the position in the viewing lens. No parallex.

    Savage Impulse

I have six of these, plus a 1911 Schmit Rubin and have never seen any ball bearings. You described it pretty well, functions much like a M1, or AR15 for that matter, just manually operated instead of gas powered.

    Savage Impulse

Not quite, but getting close, K 31 was first fielded I think in 1933, design standardized in 1931, So really around for only 87 years. One of my favorite milsurp rifles, I have six, along with an earlier 1911 Schmit RUbin

    Red dot on spotting scope.

Having a Kowa TSN 82-SV I find that I have problems aiming the scope and acquiring my target. I have been playing with mounting a red dot, and so far have used a short piece of Picatinny rail with a 1" riser to the the red dot above the plane of the angled eyepiece. The taper of the scope...

    Tripod Saddle Question.

I have a pig saddle, had not heard of the other until now. I think i would still prefer the pig saddle because it's made of heavy aluminum vs plastic. I'm reasonably sure i can pass it on to my son and grandson, not so sure about long term stability of the plastics.

Manfrotto 410 Junior Geared head for spotting scope

When I bought mine, I had researched the specs and decided on the 405. I just spotted this thread and read all the posts then just now goggled for a comparison of the two. Briefly it says the 405 has much finer threads so the movement is smoother and more precise.

Ball head vs Geared tripod head for spotter

I just got a Manfrotto 405 geared head. It has a collet ring at front of each fine tuning knob. Twist it and you can quickly move that axis, then fine tune with the geared knob. It's not as quick as a pan head but smooth. The advantage is that you can keep your movement in one plane at a...

    Spotter comparison...... Kowa; Leupold; Athlon

What mount is that Kowa on, I have been wanting something similar?

Ball head vs Geared tripod head for spotter

I tried a ball head and just plain did not like it. Maybe if the scope had an extremely wide field of view and it had been a better quality head it might have been different. I just picked up a lightly used Manfrotto 190go pro tripod, with twist lock legs, for a song from Adorama, condition...
