I recently purchased a Shilen trigger to replace my Rem 700P 40xLE trigger. I had already performed a trigger job on the 40x, and had a crisp, no creep, zero overtravel 2 1/2 pound pull. That was as low as I could get it and have it break at the same weight (+/- 1.5 oz) with every pull. I...
I found on another site some tests 168gr "match" ammo fired out of a 700P. They got an avereage group of .87 with FGMM, and they werent counting "flyers". This doesnt seem too out of line with what I got. Untill I can try out some more loads, I'll have to reserve judgement. The only other loads...
I'll be trying some more loads, some HSM 168gr match, and LC M118LR. I have a Tac Ops cheek pad on the way, perhaps it will help with my cheek weld. The M4 Med rings are a bit high for me. I can shoot my AR under 1MOA all day with a 4 power optic, so I was hoping for better accuracy from a bolt...
If thats your dope from a 100y zero, youd be hitting short. You'de need about 12 mils for 930. I think you might have been hitting short. You may have been seeing your riccocet impacting target area. This would explain the erratic hits left and right.
I wish the app could tell you what your zero will be when switching loads, e.g. If I zeroed with 168gr @ 100 yards, what will my zero change to by switching to a 175gr load.
Perhaps my expectations are too high, but I was hoping for better accuracy from my 700P. Do these groups represent typical accuracy for a factory gun, or did I get a lemon (or maybe screw it up, somehow)? FYI: 5 groups fired clock wise from top left and center last. 3 shots fired beforehand to...
