    30-06 load questions

Lapua brass holds 2 grains less H2O than Winchester or Hornady. 1 grain less than Remington. I’ve got to redo my load switching to Lapua brass.

    .30-06

How much difference in capacity have y’all seen between Lapua brass and Winchester or Hornady brass? I ordered some Lapua and trying to figure out how much I need to drop back and work back up. TIA

    30-06 load questions

After reviewing your first post again and comparing your measurements with mine, you definitely have a shorter distance to the lands than mine. About.060 shorter. With the shorter distance to the rifling you could capitalize on that by using lighter, shorter bullets and free up some space in the...

    30-06 load questions

Interested to see what you come up as I have some Lapua brass ordered and was wondering about the difference in capacity. Your primers look good and I didn’t see any ejector marks or bolt swipe. I think you are ok with that particular load. I also use H4350 in mine and it likes to be right at...

    Peterson Virgin Brass Pressure Signs

The.004 was after firing if I read it right. The cases grew .004 in length to the shoulder on the first firing shooting 38 grns of H4350. The cases did not fully fire form to chamber dimensions on the first firing with that load. Cases are likely.006-.008. shorter than the chamber when unfired...

    Peterson Virgin Brass Pressure Signs

Screw your sizing die out so it doesn’t push the shoulder back and try to chamber it. When it sizes the body it will push the shoulder forward. Then screw the die down until it chambers with a little resistance. That will be your cartridge base to shoulder datum length. Check that against your...

    Peterson Virgin Brass Pressure Signs

.004 from the cases being that much short on the first firing is what is causing the ejector marks. When the case head accelerates backwards after being driven forward by the firing pin. Make the cases a crush fit on the first firing will stop the ejector marks and possibly the primer cratering...

    Peterson Virgin Brass Pressure Signs

Get some CCI 450’s SRMagnum primers. The cups are thicker. Or. Go back to LRP brass or get the bolt bushed. Had one doing the same thing. Swapped back to LRP brass and primers and good to go.

    IMR 4350

If you have one of the older Lee Collet Dies you could iron it out and get rid of the ridges but the newer LCD’s don’t size all the way up to the case mouth. Just chamfer it before you load your bullets and it will be fine. After you load and shoot it a couple of times you’ll trim that off when...

Need help with inconsistent bullet seating depth

As long as you drill out some of it to keep the tips of the bullets from bottoming out in the seater stem. Or you could lap the stem with lapping compound and the bullet you are using.

Union upset over Keystone Pipeline cancellation

I just hope and pray that everyone involved in the theft of the election and our country lives long enough to reap the rewards of their actions. Trump in 2024 ? There won’t be an honest election in this country again. What you see is what you’ve got. Communist Democrats and Rinos. Can’t wait to...

    IMR 4350

If you can find some range brass and want to try it, be sure to remove the decapper/expander out of the die before you reform the brass. The brass is much thicker in the shoulder area and it will make the necks too thick. Requires a good bit of trimming. I made 7mmRM from 300 WM so I wouldn’t...

    Peterson Brass quality?

Got a chance to heat up a few and I’m impressed. Cases stretched .002 and resized very easy. The necks seem pretty soft and don’t have very much spring back. Ran some through my concentricity gauge before sizing them new and they ran 0-.002. Found a good load at 72.0 grns IMR 4350 with 150 grain...

I skim turn my case necks to get the thickness consistent. Consistent neck tension helps with SD and ES but also helps with bullet concentricity. I used to convert Lapua 308 brass to 6.5 Creedmoor before they started making it. Had reduced case capacity though.
