I agree ammo and practice is always money and time well spent, but for this one I don't mind dropping the little bit extra to have it fluted. I'm not doing it for weight savings, I just happen to like the look of it. I tried not to cut any corners any where so why not have it fluted.
Well I decided to go with 8 flutes at .250". I'm super excited about this gun and ill continue to update as it comes to fruition. Thanks to all who gave their opinion.

Ok guys I started a thread here to introduce myself and to run down the specs and details of a rifle I'm having built. This is a continuation on that but the subject this time is fluting.

I ordered a BEAST from Eurooptic and from the limited amount of info I've seen on the illumination is that it's now digital and able to be switched from red to green.

I definitely realize this will be a heavy gun, but it'll mainly be used for punching paper so I'm not too concerned with the weight. I'd like to get involved in some local long range matches too.

Thanks guys! Also maybe my post was misleading or poorly worded. Greg is suggesting I have it turned down to an AMU taper instead of leaving it a straight taper. I'm still torn as what to do at this point. I know that a straight cylinder at 1.250 will weigh a ton, but...
