    It seems to make no difference when the barrel is fluted. I flute a lot that have been "broke in".

    Personally I like to flute after the barrel is chambered and crowned. It is easier for me to clock the flutes to the action that way. You just need to mark the TDC on the barrel and then pick the mark up in the mill so you can put the flutes where you want them. No need for a re-crown if you use...

    I typically pay no attention to them and just deburr the holes where the flutes runs through them. I am more concerned with not hitting the ejector spring.

    Re: Gunsmiths - What magazine follower do you use?? For lighter builds I like the stamped junk. I haven't seen one snap yet! Otherwise I usually use the factory solid stainless. They especially work well if you need to modify them a bit to get a short mag to feed a little better.

    Re: Question on Sako Extractor Size I use the .172 wide extractor for all bolt faces. I think that is the same as GT's smaller one and the Tubb 2000. I also cut the bolt nose to about .130 if I am doing a re-barrel at the same time. If not I leave the nose alone.

    Re: Can you run regular floor metal on stiller .338 Yes you can run the Remington long action BDL bottom metal with it. I would suggest using the Weatherby center feed mag. box, spring and follower that Stiller also sells for that action.
